Default "Someone Or Something Spoke To Me"

We moved into our home almost 3 years ago. Since then, three of our girls sleep upstairs but all four have slept up there at one time or another. All of our kids have told us there is “someone or something” up there & that they are freaked out but they still sleep up there, with the exception of the youngest to is mortified going up there alone day or night. I have never blown this off or discredited their feelings as I believe in what they are telling me completely. I myself have not had any signs of this until this past Sat night around 2:00 am. Only two of the four girls were home and the two that were home were sleeping in the basement. My husband and I sleep on the main floor. I could not sleep for nothing & thought to myself, “I wonder if my 9 year old shut off her tv and all her lights”? (she makes a habit of this a lot) So I ventured upstairs where there are three small bedrooms, a bathroom and shelving across the hall from those. I walked past every room checking for lights or tv’s on and there weren’t any, just a night light. As I was walking back down the hallway, someone spoke to me. I stopped completely, kept quiet and tried to hear anything I could. I wasn’t afraid at all, so I turned around and there was nothing there. I just stood there for a bit hoping it would talk again. The voice I heard was gruff, an older person, not a child I don’t think. I could not make out what they said. So I just went back downstairs to find my husband in bed snoring, and my other two girls still asleep in the basement. I am convinced this was a voice & not just some house settling or blowing tree noises. There is NO doubt in my mind there is something or someone in our house. I don’t feel scared for myself or my family from it/them either. Anyone have any insight on this?

Michele

Is it an old house, or has someone lived there before?
If so, see if you can find the history of the house! Sounds interesting though, and it's good that you're not afraid I would talk back to it (reckoning it might be a ghost) and tell it that I didn't hear what it said, and such!

Well, now that you have something to go on (that gruff voice), do you want this person to stick around (possibly because you feel he/she is protective of you and your children), or do you want it to leave?

It's nice Michele that you're not afraid. But what about your children? I don't understand why you don't do something about that when it bothers them.

Anyway, it probably is a ghost of someone who either lived there or just was attracted to that place somehow. I have nothing against the dead when they stay on the Earthplane for a good reason, doing no harm. But I don't think a ghost who scares kids belongs to that category.

I used to do this, keep the lights on and preferably the tv as well until i was asleep. That way I didn´t have to hear or see anything I didn´t want to hear or see...

I never told my parents that I was scared. If they would have asked I would have probably said no. After all, I was a "big girl" and they are not scared of the dark...

Just to say, that probably your children are all scared and I would suggest doing something (anything) to make them feel safe again.

@Merrick:

So far, from what I read, it was ignorance of the fact that played a role. Once you know, you can decide whether to try and get rid of the spirit, or work on educating your children. One way could be to turn a funny edge on it, like saying "that's old gramps housekeeper doing his nighttime cleaning" or whatever.

Things are usually only scary as long as they are unknown to us, or hard to understand.

In the end, she could even take her kids up there, light a candle for the dead and have all of them ask the spirit to move on in a nice way, sending it along with their best wishes.

As a kid, I was afraid of the dark. You can't simply eradicate darkness from your life (you can't put up artificial lighting everywhere you go), so you have to eventually deal with your fear. If that spirit isn't malignant, it also is nothing that needs to be feared. Scary, yes. But only because it is something "out of the ordinary" for us.

Default -More To The Story...

I have addressed the situation with the kids many many times. I have put the humor twist on it, told them to ask it to leave & tried to comfort them. They seem to acknowledge its existence, but are still unsure if in fact there is something there or if they get spooked from watching scary movies & such. With younger kids it’s really hard to tell which is which & I didn’t want to make more out of something that didn’t need to be until I seen or heard myself. Now, since I have heard it for myself, I am in a much more serious mindset with this. All of the girls have night lights and tv’s & they are always on at night. I wait till they fall asleep and shut them off and a couple of the tv’s have timers. I do not want to come across to them as being afraid. I heard them talking soon after we moved into the house about a child upstairs & they named her “Sally”.

I don’t believe it is here to hurt anyone in the home. I started researching the house yesterday after I posted this and so far have all previous owners names, all the specs and year the house was built which was 1948. Narrowing down and seeking out previous owners looks to be a very time consuming task as I contacted a few people with the same name as the first owner and did not find the right man. I wanted to find out what they knew about our house, if anything. If anyone has any suggestions on how to do this effectively and maybe what I should say, p lease feel free to interject.

I will have to say that the owner before us was very very strange. My other neighbors have told us stories about the husband and how he would take prostitutes home when his wife was at work. We were told they had two children, one boy and one girl. Since moving into this house we have remodeled almost every room in some way. We have found all kinds of stuff, mostly in the walls or ceilings like pornography, empty tubes of lube, condoms (used and unused) and my daughter found a letter down in her heat vent written by a child stating how her father rapes his kids. He had told the neighbors that at one time, he and his wife were adopting two other children but then decided not to because the children did not have “their” intelligence level so they decided against it. Also, when we came to view the house the second time before we bought it, I asked them about this beautiful gray cat they had that I had seen the visit before. That’s when he told me that cat died and he buried it in the back yard (which goes out about 40ft then is a total drop off into the woods), then he whispered to us that he buried it in the dark and was walking out there a few days later and tripped over the head that he didn’t get buried very well. He stabbed himself one time and ran around the neighborhood screaming that a killer was on the loose. There is more, but I won’t go on forever.

I don’t wish to be ignorant of how to handle something like this & want my girls to feel safe and secure in their home always! That is why I am putting it in this forum for you all to read & send suggestions my way. I do like the idea of lighting candles and inviting the entire family to call the spirit and ask it to leave.
I do wonder if this could possibly be my oldest daughter’s father (who died in 2003 from suicide) or possibly my grandma whom I lived with all my life till I was 17.

I’d love to hear all of your opinions on this. Thanks

Michele

Uh, wish you'd told us a bit more about the previous owners before. Seems a lot of not-so-nice stuff went down there.

There are folks around who do "cleansings" of homes, i.e. try to get rid of negative energy there. Some are also adept at dealing with spirits. If you give some rough information about where you live, you might even find somebody in your vicinity here on the forums who might come by to help.

Some things that you can do in the meantime (lots more, but just something to start out with):

- the candle thing I described above. If it really is a spirit that simply lost its orientation/direction, it may help put it back "on track" and send it on to the next life
- assert your presence in a friendly but resolute way. Really, absolutely mentally take ownership of the place. Make it clear that only well-meaning entities are allowed to be there (if any). Make it clear that anybody else needs to go. Out. Now. This is your space. Your rules apply.

I mean no disrespect by this question, so please don't be offended, but the answer will dictate what advice I may be able to offer:

Are you a True Christian, or is it out of habit and convenience that you call yourself that?

Do you truly believe that Jesus Christ was the One True Son of God, that he was sent here by God to Teach, to suffer, to die for our sins and ultimately to be ressurrected and ascend bodily into Heaven to show us the Path to Salvation and God?

Or did you just grow up in a pseudo-christian enviornment and don't really hold any true spiritual beliefs of your own?

Not at all offended. Neither of my parents were religous at all. I started going to church by myself when I was about 10 years old. I truly believe.

Dear Michele,

I would like to offer you help, if I may. My girlfriend and I help people with this kind of stuff, help the deceased to leave the Earthplane, cleanse homes and spaces, do distant healing. We have got a lot of experience with that. My girlfriend is a very powerful psychic and a very wise woman and it's a joy working with her. Most of our work we do at distance. I'm pretty sure we are able to help you.

I understand that it is not easy to trust someone one doesn't know, especially with something sensitive like that. If you need some references, perhaps my spiritual teacher Mr Ivan Kaplan from Johannesburg would give you some (Ivan Kaplan Holistic Consultant). I spent over four years with him.

Keep well

Merrick

Then the best advice I can give you is to work with your Priest/Minister. That is exactly what they are trained for and exactly why they are there. If your Priest/Minister does not immediately seek to help you without questioning your integrity or the veracity of your claims, then you need a new Priest.

Best of luck.

Don't Christian beliefs negate the possibility of Earthbound spirits of dead people? I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure Christians believe that true Christians go straight to heaven and everyone else goes to purgatory to await judgment. So, anything else are either angels or demons according to your belief system.

When I was 4 years old, I woke up one night and looked over the end of the bed toward the open bedroom door and across the adjoining room. I saw a glowing, shimmering, adult male figure down on one knee, moving his arms in front of himself while looking straight at me. YIKES! I quickly laid back down, pulled the covers over my head and started screaming.

Two years and two moves later we were in an old house in Alhambra, California. There was something negative about the house and I mentioned that I didn't like the place to my parents on move-in day. They basically told me to get used to it. Not too long after that, I told my mother that there was something bad upstairs and I thought it was the devil (Catholic upbringing). She told me to be stronger than the devil, which I took to mean, KICK HIS ASS! I proceeded upstairs without turning on the lights and pretended that I was attacking the devil. I probably spent 5 to 10 minutes chasing and kicking and throwing punches at an imaginary Satan figure around the dark room. Funny thing is, I was never afraid of the dark after that! Now, I consider it a simple confidence boosting exercise. If there are real ghosts in your house, I'm sure they'll just be amused if you try the same thing with your children.

Be sure the floor is clear of objects and have each child do this completely on their own with the lights off.
