Psychic Abilities...don't we all have them???

Hello,

I am currently reading this book from Sylvia Browne called Insight...and it got me thinking that perhaps we ALL are born with some level of psychic ability and that perhaps some of us develop it or simply don't nourish these abilites...does that make sense to anyone???

yes that makes perfect sense. and many people can remember being a child, how these seemingly unexplainable things would happen. (some children will go on and on about the lifetimes they experienced before they came here.)

i do think all are born with these abilities. some ignore them, and some try to share them with adults who tell them it's time to grow up and let go of their vivid imagination... which is quite sad imo.

but yes, i do think we are all born with that ability. some honor it, some don't. but even those who don't honor it can still renew their gifts.

Hi,

I think Erin uses a muscle analogy - that some people have underdeveloped muscles they don't ever really use and other people become like bodybuilders (psychics). In my experience, we all have psychic ability. Whether you develop it depends mostly on whether you want to.

My understanding of it is very much as rei put it.
We all had these abilities as children, since children are so naturally open and curious and full of wonder.
But sadly, and slowly, over time we were all given the messages, by our parents and society, that these things are not real, and the common statement that "it's just your imagination" degraded the faculty of image-nation, which is the part of our brain which visualizes and creates images naturally.
It is very much misunderstood and not given proper estimation by the world of "Adults" (who are really just children in bigger bodies), and so, because we looked up to these people as knowing more than us as children, (and because they tend to look down on children as not being very wise or intelligent, and can speak to children in a very patronizing tone which brainwashes them all into believing they are stupid, when it's actually the other way around, we all closed off from these capacities for fear of being thought of as "crazy"!

The good news is that it definately CAN be re-nurtured. Those faculties are part of our heritage whether some choose to believe it or not! Looking up into the sky and watching clouds is a good way to begin the process of re-opening these abilities for a start! If you also choose to nurture your intuition, each person can come to their own understanding of what they can do to re-sensitize themselves and become stronger in their natural abilities.

Of course, there are those in positions of power who do not want this to be known, but just ignore them...;)

I totally agree with you Blossom. And this what happened to me throughout the years...I saw many interesting things...that noone in my environment saw...told my mom who made jokes about that and sarcastically said that I would be a psychic when I grow up...because of that...one day, I decided that I wanted to be like the "normal" people around me...now, my daughter seems to have these abilities and when she talks about things that we do not see...I encourage her to tell me about them...and she is only 3yrs old! I get to know a little bit what she is seeing and who she is talking to...Sometimes, I even catch her talking in a low voice to her "friends"...and as soon as I step in the room...she stop talking to them...I often ask her who she was talking to and she tells me her "friends"...and I tell her ok...it is not alarming me because I know that she is "safe" with them somehow...

anyway...just wanted to share this with you guys this morning (montreal time)...

It's really good that you are giving your daughter the message that you don't think she is wierd and acting like it's all normal...which it IS, is the best approach to take IMO.
It may be hard for her though when she is around other kids as she grows, since no doubt, they will not have been so fortunate to have a mother who still remembers the truth about things like this...and they will probably tease her if she talks about it to them. I'm sure she is a very intelligent young girl who can sense who to tell and who not to, for herself.
It might be a good idea though to remind her, in a gentle way, that others may not understand what she sees and, not to be 'careful' ,as this suggests a fearful attitude towards them, but to be discerning (if you can find a better word for it that she would understand) about who she does share her secret world with would be better, even if it's just you?
I'm sure it will enrich your relationship with her...and she can help you to nurture your own gifts again and let go of any fearful blocks you have in regards to this natural ability. Best of luck:)

Thank you Blossom! I will definitely talk to her about it.

Agreed! to all of this.

(caution would be to stay-away from unknown-unembodied influences such as ghosts/ouicha boards, because
they can/do lead people, especially little children  astray)

But learning to make more & better use of your own untapped mind-potentials, can lead you to wonderful realms of possabilities, with greater choices... :)

Hi! Yes, I think everyone has psychic ability! Because psychic means soul. I consider all of us as soul being experienced in the human body. Do you ever wonder how we communicate on the other side without a physical body? I know we communicate telepathically. So, just because we're in human form doesn't mean we've lost our soul ability. It's all inside. Sad to say, most of us have been taught not to talk about memories of a past life or to speak of our "wild imaginations". And with any talent, if you don't use it, you lose it. Well, not lose it in this case. It's still present. Just much more difficult to access. Most people are affraid of what they don't understand, so those times of" coincidence " are ignored or forgotten. Well, I hope that helps some. It's just one persons view. ;-)

That is one of the coolest things I've read in a while. :)

I have such hope for the generations of the future.

I wonder: might there one day be a time where all of this is considered natural--maybe even taboo or "strange" not to have an awareness and connection with this? (I say "this" because I don't want to put a label on the experience, since if I do, it might not resonate with some... where as this is an experience that can resonate with everyone.)

That's mostly a rhetorical question, but boy, it's fun to wonder about it. :)

Here's something from Lao Tzu's Hua Hu Jing:
Thirty-Five
Intellectual knowledge exists in and out of the brain.
Because the brain is part of the body, which must one day expire, this collection of facts, however large and impressive, will expire as well.

Insight, however, is a function of the spirit.
Because your spirit follows you through cycle after cycle of life, death, and rebirth, you have the opportunity of cultivating insight in an ongoing fashion.

Refined over time, insight becomes pure, constant, and unwavering.

This is the beginning of immortality.
I take that to mean that any spiritual development or progress you make will be with you always. So while some people may have progressed further in their psychic abilities in a past life, thus appearing to be a 'natural-born' psychic in this life, the reality is that we all have these abilities, it's just that we're not all equally in tune with spirit.
