Was this a lucid dream or astral projection?

Ok, so last night was a very weird but awesome experience for me. I was sleeping and just thinking of some good thoughts and feeling really good but I was also super tired because I usually have to lay in bed for an hour and a half before I can fall asleep and it was just getting to that time. I was laying on my back at the time, not sure if that makes a difference but I always sleep on my side.

Then I started feeling really weird but really good. I started to visualize Mary and baby Jesus was in her hands. They were super happy and looked amazingly real like they were right there. Then I started to just float. I started to float up to them and they kinda disappeared and there I was, just floating near the ceiling of my house. Then I started floating through a door and literally had to dodge the door cause I wasn't really sure how to float very good. I remember just looking at everything and realizing, THIS IS SO REAL OMG. It was like real life but instead I was floating and it was awesome. Then I started to think I was lucid dreaming so I started to imagine what I wanted in my dream because its not very often I get to lucid dream like that but when I did that I just woke up in my bed.

I was still feeling really good from the experience and desperately wanted to do it again but I couldn't so I just went to sleep for the night. So what do you think? Was this an out of body experience or just a lucid dream?

Generally, a good rule of the thumb is: if you aren't sure, then it probably wasn't. However, in your case you thought, "THIS IS SO REAL OMG". So I'm gonna go out on a limb and say, yeah, that was a bonafide out of body projection of your consciousness.

Sounds to me like you were meditating, whether you knew ot or not, as opposed to just lying on your back trying to get to sleep. I too have saw the vision of Mary holding the baby as well when deep in meditation.

Whether it was a lucid dream and/or actual astral projection I'm not sure. I sometimes have the same problem -- thinking I'm astral but when I awake I realise I was lucid dreaming about being astral.
