question about... soul connections?

Sorry Im not quite sure what to call the phenomenon I am experiencing but others around me have called it soul connections so Im going with that for now.

So here's my story. When I was bout 17ish (I am 21 now) my mum came home and started telling me about her friends son who was the same age as me, just rambling about her day really, she didnt say anything about him that ever vaguely interested me. Until a few minutes later when I started feeling ill, spacey, like I was somewhere else completely. It got bad enough that I (the spiritually shut down teen) had to admit to myself and my mum that something was going on and she subsequently found out I had practically all but stepped out of my body and helped me ground and centre myself again. I came back with this feeling that I wasnt alone, thought I was being paranoid until all of a sudden i burst into tears. My mum says it was the most bizarre experience (I dont remember it very clearly) I was just blubbering at her all of a sudden saying things like "he's in trouble, he's so scared, I've got to help him, really, you need to believe me, he's in trouble". She asked me who was in trouble and I gave her a name.

I remember her looking completely confused and simply saying "that's the name of my friend's son."

The panic eventually subsided as it kind o wore me out but ever since that day, and it has been years now, I have been connected to this guy's energy. Im very sensitive to people and their energy naturally but this is something else entirely. I am now living my truth not running from it and I (for the most part) have control over whether or not I am tapping into anyone else's energy field or whether anyone is even trying to tap into my energy field. I have tried many different things many different times to disconnect from him (mostly because I know he is not spiritually aware and dont want to be invading his privacy whilst he has no choice over whether I am there or not) but nothing seems to work. I now feel like I have no choice in this connection either.

I should be clear that it doesnt worry me at all, I trust that if this is really happening without either of us having made a choice then there must be some higher purpose or lesson in it, but I would really like to understand it better if I can.

I have met him in person in the time since that initial incident and whilst I can feel that yes this energy goes with this being (I have also had confirmation through our mothers in the way of me saying oh god he's having a really bad day, he's in such a bad way, my mum calling her friend and saying yeah it has been a bad day, yes such and such happened... so i know its not all in my head or blown out of proportion) but I have no pull or interest in having him in my life in a physical sense. I guess I could best describe it as the feeling of connection you have to your guides except instead of having to call up stairs, he's just a few rooms down the hall on the same floor.

I guess Im just wondering if anyone has heard of a connection or something like this before, or experienced one or knows anything about it? Thanks.

The only thing that came to mind when I read your post was the idea of vanishing twins.

Those who have lost a twin in utero (before birth) can be apt to have unusual bonds or connections with others who have had a similar experience. It's something you might want to explore.

People whose twins have vanished tend to be very empathic and often have "black moods" that come from no known source. Their spirits are accustomed to acting in tandem with other spirits. They may be picking up on someone else's energy without even knowing who they are bonded to.

If both you and this guy had vanishing twins, your energy might become entangled with his without either of you consciously intending it. It's no one's fault, and it does not have to hurt you as long as you learn some strategies to deal with it. It might help to learn some basic ways to release negative energies--anything from bathing in epsom salts to aromatherapy or simple forms of self-hypnosis. If you get tangled in a black mood that does not come from yourself, you can look on it as a service to humanity to take care of yourself and release that mood. Who knows who you will help by doing so--and who cares? You will help yourself, and most likely someone else, too.

Thankyou, this has given me some things to think about!

Luckily the connection no longer negatively effects me, I can tell these days if something I am feeling is mine or not and shake it if it doesn't belong to me.

Do you talk to your spirit guides, or just use your empathy?

Have you tried higher-self meditation and asked how and why you are connected and what you are supposed to do with it?

I have asked my guides numerous times and keep getting the same thing - it isnt important for you to know right now, keep the faith and all will be revealed in time. I do trust this completely and I dont even normally think about it really, I know have the same thoughts about it overall as i do contacting my guides, its just something i can do, no biggie you know!

I felt compelled to post about it here and have learnt to go with those impulses but I dont think I was ever expecting answers so Im not even sure why I was led to post about it, oh but as I type im getting that it was more about me being open about it, I dont discuss it with people because even in spiritual circles it kind of freaks people out so maybe this was all an act of owning it and not hiding it.

My brain really struggles some days, that answer was so easy, breezily floated in without me trying at all - dont you wish you could call up all the answers like that!

When I read the title of this it instantly made me think of someone I know. I don't want to go too off topic because this seems different than what you were talking about, but whenever I'm around him it feels like everything is right again, and time and each moment become more meaningful. I haven't seen him for a while and if I think about him now its like my heart starts aching it's so sad. I asked someone about this who's very into Thetahealing, and she said we have a spiritual connection. But, I guess you don't feel this way about the person you mentioned?

One thing that keeps popping up in my mind is that people put huge differences on their everyday connections with other people and spiritual connections.

But all in all, once you add in some more depth because several veils are not present in the nonphysical world, it's just the same as here (like above, so below).

That is, you can be connected to others and feel about them like some kind of mentor or motherly/fatherly friend. You can feel about them as the love of your life/eternal soulmate.

There are all sorts of connections, and just like in this world, the longer two souls "work together", the more familiar they become with each other, and the deeper you "look into the other one's soul".

The specific kind(s) of love you feel when you think about somebody in particular are very individual, and no two "loves" or connections are exactly the same.

We already take this for granted in this world, but somehow, when we think about soul connections, we still ask about how it works. It works the same way!
