Default New Here--Tom Brown Jr Classes Anyone?

Hello Everyone!

I am brand new here, and just wanted to say hello. I fear that I will only be around for a couple more days as I am heading out on Sunday Feb. 4th for my job as an Alaskan groundfish observer (basically working on the fishing boats in the Bering Sea, collecting biological data about their catches for NMFS and Fish & Game). I'll probably be gone till May or so.

Anyway, I am very excited to find this forum. My husband and I have taken several of Tom Brown Jr's classes (For anyone that might be familiar....One was the Standard, focused primarily on wilderness survival skills. The other two were his "philosophy" classes, which teach about a lot of the stuff I've seen referenced here in various posts...spirit guides, etc. LOTS more than that ).

Some of the instructors in the classes kind of jokingly called themselves the reality annihalation team. Several months later, I realize how right they were. We (my husband and I) were both left w/ far more questions than answers, and we realize our learning process has only just begun. Here in rural MT though, the opportunity to discuss this sort of thing with others is limited and again, this is why I am so excited to find an online community of people that won't think I'm a freak when I bring up stuff like sacred silences and spirit guides.

Hope this post finds everyone doing well. I look forward to exchanging ideas with you !!

Erin

(I guess I should have posted this in the general intros forum first. Maybe I will copy/paste.....).

I'm a fan of Tom Brown Jr. from his books, especially Awakening Spirits. When you get back in the spring, please drop by and post about your experiences at the classes. I'm very interested to hear what goes on and what kind of experiences people have.

I have read some of Tom Brown Jr's books. He is a good storyteller, even if his books are are occasionally over the top and not quite as autobiographical as he would lead you to believe. There is a bit of a cult of personality about the man, which can be a bit un-nerving at times. He's either a madman or a genius, depending on who you listen to (not unlike certain individuals here...).

Hello to both of you, Andy and WanderingOak, and thank you for the welcome .

I have heard that cult rumor re: Tom Brown too WanderingOak....I don't know that it was really something I saw reinforced at the class. Rather, I would say it was something they were aware of but tried to discourage. The man IS intense though, no doubt about that.

Ah well though. I figured, no matter his personality traits....he teaches stuff I want to know, and does it effectively. So that works for me right now .
