Psychic self-defense, yes or no?

I'm currently developing my psychic abilities. I've noticed that some authors stress heavily the necessity to defend and protect ourselves from negative spiritual entities. I'm having doubts and a bad gut feeling about this.

Isn't protecting ourselves in itself a way of creating/attracting such bad entities? If I protect myself, this means I believe they will try to attack me, and doesn't this in itself already lower my vibration and create fear?

When I have absolutely no fear, why would I attract such things, and why would I need protection?

Thanks for your input. :)

You are right. As long as your vibration is high and you live in the light, you are safe.

You can easily inadvertently create a problem for yourself with fear of that sort of thing.

There are times when I feel some negative brushing around or in the house, and I dispel it. But I don't need to go through a rigamorale when I do readings as Bob takes care of who gets in and out of my white room.

Thank you very much Erin! I am relieved to hear that I don't need to think about evil creatures. :)

I've never had any negative spiritual encounters and I'm not scared of them. I really don't feel like beginning with it now!

I would never consult with someone who felt the need to protect herself from evil supernatural entities, or had fear or vulnerability about being attacked by them. I would just say, no thank you, and skeedaddle.

If that means anything to you. :)

I personally believe that everyone should practice psychic self-defense...not just because of negative "entities" but because of negative "energy" in general. You do not have to be on a journey of new age spirituality, to necessitate and benefit from using psychic self-defense.

the mere act of it, can have a placebo effect that carries over, and helps you to deal with other negative events in life, because you feel like you are pro-active in protecting yourself from the effects of anything negative that comes your way. Some people, just need to feel empowered to feel safe. If you're one of those people, than psychic self-defense can help you, even if you are not seeking a deeper spiritual meaning in life. ;)

Blessings,
Rebecca

I agree that it's important to know psychic self defense, so that when people attack your energy (like the passive aggressive mother figure or something) you don't get your energy swiped away from you. But protecting yourself from an entity shouldn't be necessary unless you've left the door open for them in the first place.

Psychic SD does have its place.

Whether you attract negative entities depends on the level of fear you resonate with. If you're fearful and psychic defense makes you feel better about that, it has its place.

If you're not fearful, there's really no point.

I used to be really scared of spirits and negative things and psychic self-defense helped me feel safer. Now that I am no longer fearful, it's not something I bother with.

Hi Rose,

I also don't really resonate with psychic protection, either. It's as if my inner being (or higher self, or intuition, or whatever you want to call it) had a different opinion (I could tell by how I felt).

Keep in mind that I'm a newbie when it comes to "psychic" stuff, but the more I work with the Akashic record as part of my Soul Realignment training, the more I see that it's really all about intention.

I've always found that when I try to follow someone's visualisation or specific process or method for doing something (whether it be for psychic or general personal development), I often struggle. What I learned is that, for the most part, people share what works for them and any suggestions or recommendations they give you come from their perspective (which may be very different from your perspective). That's not good or bad, but knowing that really helped me when certain things just wouldn't work for me.

Methods and processes (such as suggestions for spiritual protection) are, in my experience, often tailored to the "congifugration" (i.e. the talents, preferences, desires, skills, and current state) of the person who shared it. Usually I try to look to the core intention behind a process and find a way to focus on that intention in a way that is natural for me. The more I tweak things to cater to my specific configuration, the more effective I seem to become (in anything, not just with psychic stuff).

I believe that a lot of people suggest psychic protection because, as Anna says, it makes them feel good on some level. Really, I think that feeling good is what it's about.

Abraham seems to agree. (That's a link to a video where Abraham shares their take on negative entities, thought forms, and spiritual protection. To sum up Abe's take on it: "you get what you think about.")

That is very true! :)

What a good idea! I'll do that too. I already do it, I often modify techniques that I learn to make them more compatible with myself instead of following them exactly. But I'll focus on the energy/intention behind the process more consciously from now on.

Yes, exactly. And since it doesn't make me feel good but rather bad, I just won't do it.

Thanks Anna and Bruce. :)

Having read this thread, I was a bit 0.o about psychic self defense. I asked my guides and they said they allowed/encouraged/wanted me to go about the white light self defense so I can learn to use my intention/will to disallow or allow what I want to contact with. It's a novice class, basically, about intention and attraction. It's not the protection that really matters. I resonate with that advice: until I am at a higher level, this is what's useful to me.

Go with what's good for you. If something goes right, great; if it screws up, you'll know. What other people say are just suggestions; you know that.
