Is this mental telepathy?

Hi. I'm new here, so hello to everyone. I have a question on a magic trick done to me. This is how it went.. My cousin laid a pack of cards spread out, face down. He told me to close my eyes.. and then told me to pick the Ace of Spades. I was reaching for any card. He told me to stop. I opened my eyes. He told me to do it again, eyes closed. This time, I could clearly see the Ace of Spades as though it was turned around and sticking out, I could clearly see my hand reaching out for it, and i correctly picked it. All of this i 'saw' while my eyes were closed. My question is.. how did he do this?

did you see the whole deck when it was NOT face down? They make decks that have all the same card throughout. maybe you got the pleasure of playing with one of these decks, close up.

Hi Rebecca. I am familiar with most magic tricks. The cards used were my own.. a standard pack of playing cards. What was amazing is that he asked if i saw the card in my mind, sticking out at me. I confirmed that I did. Supposing it was a trick, how did he know what i saw in my mind? I was just going to pick any card.. before the picture in my mind came unexpectedly. Its difficult to say in words exactly how i saw it... unless you can imagine yourself seeing through your eyelids.. while also 'seeing' the Ace of Spades turned the right way up. I dont know if that makes sense to you.. but I'd love to hear comments on how it could be done.

I am not sure how it can be done..other than practice practice practice.

I play with a deck of regular cards once in a while....making two piles of right and wrong and see if I can foretell which one is next....I am about 50/50 with the piles.

My kids will do this too, where they flip a card over and look at it without letting me see it, and I am able to guess about two out of three average. The more we do this, the easier it gets.

I can't say how your friend did this. I am interested in seeing what other answers do come up.

Wow.. 2 out of 3 guesses is awesome. Do you go with your own intuition.. or do you ask your kids to try to relay the card telepathically? The way I think the card trick worked.. my cousin knew where the Ace of Spades was laid out.. and he communicated it to me telepathically somehow. And I'd love to know how thats done.

It's a very interesting situation and seeing as it was with your cards, I cannot see any reasonable explanation except that he put the thought into your mind via telepathy.

It's worth asking him though!

Yeah.. thats what I think as well. Is there someone here.. or a resource elsewhere.. where I could learn to do this myself? I cant ask him myself.. a magician never reveals his secrets. Thats why Im here :-)

your eyes were closed right? are you sure he didn´t put the card in (or under) your hands?

Ever tap into your own mind? Maybe you were seeing what your friend saw. My boyfriend knew that I could see and hear things like that before I did.

Ssandra.. yup Im positive he didnt give me the card. And it doesn't answer the question of how he knew what happened in my mind. If he told me in advance that he wanted me to imagine the card, that would explain his knowledge of what could have happened in my mind ala cold reading after an initial suggestion. However, he didnt tell me to imagine anything. He just said to close my eyes. Then he said to pick the Ace of Spades. I figured it was just a simple card trick. Thats why I was just going to randomly pick any card. And then.. out of the blue.. i could see the card sticking out in my mind. As I moved my hand towards the card.. I could see my hand moving in my mind. I could see my hand picking up the card off the table. And when I opened my eyes.. it was the Ace of Spades. At first I still thought it my imagination.. mixed with a magic trick. Until.. without telling him.. he told me I saw sumthn in my mind.. he told me I saw the card sticking out and flashing at me. That is exactly what I saw. And if you are curious, I didnt try to make his description fit the picture I imagined. He described it exactly as I saw it in my mind.

Justsbri.. until that stage.. I had no idea telepathy was real or something that happens in real life. I hardly knew anything about it.. I didn't know people do it in real life. I haven't tried tapping into my mind, but I'd love to learn.
