I had a dream last night that I killed someone! In my dream, I stabbed someone (don't know who it was), and then quietly left the building. Then I was so scared that someone would find out what I did. I mananged to wake myself up from the dream because I knew it was so out of context and I would never do that. But then as soon as I went back to sleep, it started again. I hid a bloody towel at my old house (haven't lived there in 3 years), and then I was scared to go to work (my present job in real life) because I had started hearing about the murder on the news. Before I went to sleep last night, I was working to release a negative money pattern. I was doing some mirror work with affirmations and then a subconscious reprogramming exericse (repeating a new money belief) in the few minutes before I fell asleep. I am thinking that maybe the killing in my dream represented the beginning of letting go of the negative habit. In a weird way, I felt a little lighter after the dream. I feel like the fear in the dream is because I have been working to realease old, negative habits, and have started to finally move in the direction of my dreams, and as happy as I am about this, it scares me a bit, just because moving forward is new and I want everything to go right (I've been stuck for many years). Hope that makes sense... Any ideas? I was really creeped out when I woke up. I couldn't even hurt a fly! Thanks! Last edited by Wolfspirit; 06-07-2009 at 03:57 PM. |

Well, this dream means you like me. Good job on your own dream analysis! I would ask, "what purpose was that old belief about money serving for me -- what was it doing for me?" When you get that learning, you can use the learning to protect you going forward, without having to believe the old thought, and the fear can just drop away. |

Thanks for the good advice. I feel like I am doing better every day. The dream last night just kind of threw me for a loop! Not sure why that particular metaphor (killing someone) was used in the releasing - something nicer, next time, please. As you posted, we learn what the experience has to teach us and we move on in confidence. Thanks!

Your interpretation makes total sense to me! I can see why the dream itself would be disturbing, but it sounds like in the context you described, it is just a way of "disposing" of a negative belief, but also feeling nervous about it. Maybe the belief was really strongly held, or you wanted to make sure it would never bother you again! Best wishes on your new path forward with supportive beliefs. |

I think all beliefs had a positive purpose at the time we started believing them. They might not have been very effective, mostly because we started believing them when we were itty-bitty and we didn't have very strong inner resources yet to be be able to cope with whatever was happening that had us make that decision to believe, but it was still a positive purpose, in our itty-bitty mind. The reason I think it's important to find that positive purpose of an old pain belief is that if you junk it and replace it with a new one without getting the learnings - that is, seeing what was the purpose and looking to see how your newer, adult, more resourceful self might handle it going forward, sometimes the old belief will simply lurk in the shadows. The unconscious mind will tend to hang onto it to protect you. |

I agree that it's very important to find the lesson in everything, both positive and negative. Thank you all for helping me sort through my dream last night, allowing me to contuniously move on to higher levels. Thanks!
