I recently wrote an artice on automatic writing (AKA free Association Writing), anyone ever tried this, and if you did, did you experience any benefit from doing so? Here is a link to the article. |

With me however, It just happened, I did not meditate or practise a skill to do it , it just happened and the entire poem was there from first to last stanza, I felt that it deserved to be written down, so I wrote them out exactly the way these pieces came to me Something else that has me puzzled about this automatic writing is the fact that I can not* forget the pieces of writing even if i tried, it is almost like they are burned into my sub conscience or someplace inside of me that I don't fully understand.. I'd like to talk to others and see if they experienced this ability as well and if they too can not forget the poems or stories Etc.. "possesion" is another word I would use to describe when it happens to me

So you're of the opinion that automatic writing is a connection with an intelligence that is outside your body, as opposed to communication with your subconscious?

I am primarily claircognizant, it is a psychic ability where you just KNOW stuff, you don't even feel it (clairsentient), so automatic writing is apparently the way to go for claircognizants from what I know. It is a connection with your guide/higherself. But it could easily be rationalized as your subconscious, it could be both... I really don't doubt guides anymore. I still have the book called "Journey of Souls" by Dr. Michael Newton, it's about a hypnotherapist who regresses like 30 some odd patients to past lives and past deaths and what happens in the after life. It's a really fascinating read. PM me and I will send it to you.

although beautiful as it was......i think it is a gift, I talked to my physcologist about it , and she said she has spoken to many artists who write songs or authors who have the same ability and they describe it like a possession too because they can't quite figure out where it comes from, so she told me to just accept it as a gift , to accept it for the blessing that it is , with or without understanding it entirely

That's really interesting, all of it. from the pespective of doing research for that article I had a notion of automatice writing as something high school kids with a penchant for Wicca and the occult would do, just to be weird. After doing the research I came to find out that this has been a widely practised meditation technique and is believed to be derived from anchient scrying practises. Either way, it seems like something that is more effective than i had initially thought. |

Hmm I've never done any scrying or was i doing any meditation techniques , lol, so I guess my ability blows that theory out of the water

First we must release the words into the air see them floating around us behind us there stringing down from the mirror there in the doorway there swimming the COUNTDOWN the COUNTDOWN and the dangling will we fit amidst this chaos the pillow case doesn’t know DESCRIBE are we at the door yet wait listen this is it CONCENTRATE how many speak to us how many do we listen to how many do we speak to how many mothers how many animals REMEMBER don’t obey the pork chops TATA it’s a touchy subject a lot of strangeness reaching out of the sound the sight QUINK THICK we have to speak we have to speak now we have to do we hear listen UNTIL our eyes catch the words from the air do we feel think touch the scent hint wave GO TO ONE Poet Hannah Weiner kept a “Clairvoyant Journal." The writing above is a short blip written in response to her work and basically the idea of automatic writing. I would also like to add: Engine stick stricken multiplicity canon unison curvature slew adore lemming gold pinched kindness spool thimble tread appearance scatter seams honest delineation Slender ash drift pulse lever loophole deal hammer kiss Saturn Lis Incognita satryr graze incoherent center mixture key whilst tongue zen swing set Tropicus Capicorni circular antiquity Amber calm timber chew ominous dough double meat eater tumbler solipsist indeterminate collage nebula rapture creed tear nemesis cover ridge arm leg button screw elasticity shovel crutch blown Muscle sherbet gurgle burst dual drool germ gravity suck spin slip skin tape tremolo jewel sparkle midday marvel shoelace revelation dim malady street talker palm rust hedge dio cognita Joint fog nibbler acid soap entropy balloon contention meal catch snip nose Gregorian ohms vida infinite chemist bubbler rain shelf chapter lamp sleep momentum planet mind root limber eon meteor hope shimmer sphere Some other notable writers related to automatic writing/stream of consciousness: Allen Ginsberg--"the key is to catch yourself thinking"--most famous poem, "Howl," is written in what they call "breath units." Each stanza is intended to be read aloud in one breath--most people without some practice in buddhist breathing techniques can't read it aloud properly. I guess his idea is to take a deep breath and "exhale" the words. Jack Kerouac's "On the Road" as well as most of his writing explores automatic/stream of consciousness writing in depth. These guys like getting caught up in the sounds as the words emerge--very difficult to write. Lots and lots and lots of published authors use this idea. Many poets, novelists, writers have attested to in some way being a "vehicle" for something that "comes through" them. For most though, it is nearly impossible to completely free ourselves to the subconscious (or unconscious). I experience automatic writing in dreams. The pages just fill up in front of me. Too bad I usually can't remember that many details. |

Here is one that came to me from first to last stanza, absolutely no conscience thought to write it , in fact i was in the middle of sweeping the kitchen floor when it came all i did was write it down , My sweet child of God and rhyme A wonder and parable told In seized moments of experience And grand imaginings Can I know your soul and freethinking? Who do you pray to these child prayers of heaven? In your short lived truths Always running to become Yet you do not burden with them In child like wisdom you wonder Is freedom not walked in bare feet? The shiny stone a child secret that he might joy for the first time And bless the angel with song These deeper things of heaven for the child And when you giggle and stir in adult places And fear that furrowed brow a reflection of adult spankings and for bodings From the gods of adulthood Would you bow your head and the angel of innocence keep you hidden from these Glimpses of so called adult justice Or she bow her head in wait of you In this adult world where laughter appears forbidden a curse of the aged hardened heart In this the angel beckons you Continue to walk across stones picking up snakes and scorpions And sleep a peaceful sleep upon your bed of faith while you dream your forever dreams of change inside a fortress built from a plain cardboard box As a king a servant of friends This is your hour and song in celebration But would you grow to rebel and the angels step back along the sidelines Cheering you in a song of encouragement when your truths aren’t heard in purity and shared heart. But misunderstood by pretentiousness a child has yet to identify These adult fears of heaven passing them by. For this reason you are called to throw open heaven’s gates inviting all without prejudice or malice As only seen and known by the child of God and rhyme. |
