Default Tinnitus

I have been getting tinnitus a lot lately (ringing sound in the ears). I know there are some paranormal explanations for tinnitus and just wondered what other people think. I tend to get it mostly at night.

Hi pickledonion12 -
My husband has tinnitus and it drives him nuts - however, his is due the the constant exposure to loud humming machinery.

I have ringing in my ears occassionally - and nine times out of ten, it is my 'phone line'. If I stop, shield and 'answer' my 'phone', I usually get a message from a friend, family member or guide. It is usually accurate (but I am not fool-proof!).

It may be that, aside from medical reasons, you are beginning to quiet down at night, and more open to receiving messages/'phone' calls.

I have that problem too. It comes and goes. Sometimes it's really really loud. I've noticed it seems to be worse if I've been on my cellphone a lot that day. I've also heard it's some kind of energy being beamed at you.

What I've noticed lately is that the ringing has subsided, but now, I can hear a tinkling sound. It almost sounds like a dozen small wind chimes.

Default ear noises

i always heard that if you had sudden ringing in the ear it meant someone was thinking of you or talking about you....old wive's tale...hmmmm, i believe some truth to it on a spiritual level. physically...lots of causes... i get a ringing or really a "whooshing" noise mostly at night, which is directly related to tmj. very annoying, but have learned to live with it. my husband has had tinnitis on and off to a maddening point...mostly allergy/sinus related...with some medication relief....good luck!

You may enjoy this article by Slade Roberson, a clairaudient psychic who offers reading professionally:

Since this past August 2008, I’ve been receiving increasing amounts of email questions, article suggestions, and consultation requests regarding (primarily) clairaudient and/or auditory phenomena:

* high-pitched ringing in the ears
* faint modem-like noises
* ghost music or ambient loops
* split hearing (when one seems to drop out or become momentarily muffled)
* soft tapping, popping, or other subtle percussive effects

Do I personally have these types of quasi-physical experiences? The short answer is Yes, to all of the above, at one time or another.
Slade then goes on to explore the topic. I found the article and the very ideas it explores quite interesting.

That IS very fascinating. Thanks for the link! I've also had all those things happen to me that are on that list - it's just only when I'm in between waking and sleeping. I only wish I'd get more of the interesting audio phenomena during the daytime or when I have an important decision to make, or that I could take more away from the experiences. All in time I suppose.

I've had tinnitus for almost 4 years now. It is constant, and actually sounds a lot like a mix of crickets and high pitch tones, but I usually hear it only at night because it's quite. It is always there and I can definitely hear it during the day if I focus. I've kind of trained myself to ignore it but it's definitely there and is still annoying. Very cool link there, Bruce!

If you are around alot of noise during the day, and have none in the background at night, when you lay down to sleep...that can trigger the mind to hear echoing sounds or ringing in the ears, to make up for the lack of sound that the mind is used to being constantly stimulated with. I hope that made sense. Consider this, before assuming it is paranormal.

My husband works as a mechanic in a real noisy trucking garage. He experiences this often. He cannot sleep because of it, when the house is quiet..but sleeps like a baby, when the television is on or the radio is blaring away. He can literally sleep thru a wicked storm. Silence wakes him from a sound sleep. The ringing begins to happen, then.

If it becomes intolerable, turn on a radio at a soft volume to create a sound for the mind to latch on to...rather than giving you a ringing sensation to compensate for the lack of surrounding noise.

Blessings,
Rebecca

That's funny. My room mate's the same exact way. He has to have the TV on to go to sleep. When I first moved in I'd come home and he'd be passed on out the couch with the TV on and as soon as I turned it off, he'd wake up. He never mentioned ringing in the ears, but I wonder if that's what does it, or if it's just the fact that he's not used to the silence.

I'm the exact opposite. I can't sleep with even the slightest noise, no matter how tired I am. I'm getting better at blocking sounds out now, but I'm still a very light sleeper, even with the tinnitus.

Default Both sides of it

I used to have this when I was a kid. I could be listening to something or be in complete silence when all of a sudden all the sound around me got drowned out by a high pitch frequenzy and it would change pitch in a certain pattern. It was different everytime. Most of the time it would be very annoying and I would give it a few seconds and sometimes up to 5 minutes before it would go away. Now adays I have a constant ringing in my ears and minor hearing loss due to the fact that I have been in the Army as an Infantryman for the past 5 years and have been through lots of firefights and a few IED blasts, one of which destroyed our vehicle. Yet even then I can still tell the difference from the normal humming and a sudden surge of it. I honestly don't believe it is linked to me suddenly "realizing" that it is there. There seems to be no method to the madness. I have never even once attributed the noise to paranormal activity, but up until a week ago I was too closed minded to believe that I had any psychic ability. I actually hear it right now as I am writing this but I recognize that it is just the normal humming that I have had ever since the blast, I just am focusing on it so now I can hear it.
