Some time ago I wrote a blog entry about certain experiences I have during meditation. I wonder if any of you can comment on what they are and if they have anything to do with spiritual things. Sweet, another INTP! I have observed myself saying something in the heat of argument, and thinking, "It's not me that's saying this. It's something else speaking through me." Not exactly the same as what you described, but probably cut from the same cloth. |

That's interesting stuff, Dolazy. Someone once advised me that, "Wondering if something real is the first step to understanding it and accepting that it could be." One of the hardest thing about unusual experiences like this is trying to interepret them, because we tend to interpret them according to our physical experience, but the same rules don't hold. You are dealing with sensations and manifestations of energy both physical and non-physical, and and it can be confusing. Alot of what you describe sounds to me like the disassociation of the awareness from the physical. This can lead to astral projection and other profound states once you understand it better. Now, in my book it is entirely possible to encounter non-physical entities in these states, but there are other energies as well. My inclination is that most of what we experience in those states -- until we learn to direct them -- is the result of our intentions. Now, our hopes as well as our fears can manifest intention, so you have to be careful getting into this stuff cause there's stuff out there you probably don't want to attract. My advice would be to practice empty mind meditation before going into altered awareness. It's like unloading any extra baggage you might be carrying with you. It's less likely that your hidden "can of snake" is going to spring open at the wrong moment. Plus, it will make it easier to get a "clean" account down on paper before your mind starts making a confused mess of it. Good luck! --Andy |

Thanks for your insightful reply Andy. Actually most of my meditations start as concentration or empty mind meditations, but they sometimes evolve into this kind of thing. I'm not sure if I should allow this or hold it back. I feel like I should be allowing it as long as it feels good. However, the shuddering is kinda nasty, but this happens on muscles that are tense. So it seems like a sort of natural progressive relaxation. Thanks again for your reply, I feel my insight has increased a little again. |
