terrible & vivid dream! what do you think?

This is a dream I had back in November. I actually emailed this to someone a few hours after dreaming it so I'll paste in here what I put (but edited to include more details).


The weirdest thing in a while just happened today. I'm actually a little bit too freaked out to type it all right now. But I was having this weird dream, where it was nighttime and I was walking around this building like I was waiting for something, like for someone to come out (I think I was thinking my sister and her boyfriend?). The entire area was super detailed, everything felt real but like something was off. There was a weird vibe to it. I'm not sure what the building was made out of, but it was white, with a flat, slanted roof. The roof was higher at the front of the building (and slanted down at the back) and the entrance was just a brown door(s?) with lanterns around it. I remember walking over to a small fence and looking across the road, and seeing the air shimmer (in front of some trees) like it does when there's heat, and thinking someone is hiding over there or will soon appear there in a few moments. I walked to the front of the building and stopped. I was studying the architecture of the roof because I knew there was something familiar about it. I think the building just had a flat roof, then there were two rectangular slanting arches on it (made from the same material as the building). So from the front it looked like two rectangles sitting on both sides of the roof with tree branches going through the arches (there were tons of trees). Anyway there was something familiar about the way the arches were placed, then after a few minutes it hit me and I remembered something horrible. It was so traumatizing it was like I got pushed backwards into my head and lost consciousness of everything around me. I started screaming and different pictures started flashing in my head of a girl between two rectangles with her arms somehow connected to the rectangle on its side (typing this makes me cry). She was being tortured somehow, like she was getting ripped in half or something. Then the flashing pictures changed to all the things or people I had been thinking about lately and I woke up. Waking up felt so weird, I was scared to death and thought I was in a different reality. I thought I was going to look in the mirror and see the face of someone else. It felt like I was coming back from a different lifetime or something.


What do all of you think? Was it a past life? Why did I dream that?

Hi, Merveilles. I will often respond to questions about dream interpretation, but only for fresh dreams. If you are still thinking about an old dream you had in November, you are focusing on work that your subconscious was doing in the past, and I just don't think that's valuable. Reflecting on old dreams just feels like gossip to me -- it's like the National Enquirer of subconscious work.
