About six years ago, when self-extricating myself from Jehovah's Witnesses, I decided to follow Robert Anton Wilson's advice in Cosmic Trigger, a life changing book for me, and explore taboos as a way to rapidly deprogram myself. Tarot was a great way to do that, as few things are more odious in the JW world. I wrote up my remarkable experiences in an essay on my blog, Tarot & Rapid Brain Change which will probably be interesting to Pavlina forum readers.

I read your article, and I must say it was well written. I had the privilege to select a single card from the deck, passed around, just a few days. I picked up "Force", the women taming the lion through self-empowerment. The tarot reader gave me the basic meaning, and how it might relate to my life, but her words didn't vibe to me, to which I was told "trust your own interpretation". After some careful thought, I noticed the significance of the symbols that I had created for myself previously, and just wow! Of all cards, I got that one. It has meaning to me in a way that no tarot card reader could fathom, even now as I write this, I know I haven't come close to its full message.

Thank you ilrein. In my case, the Tower card reverberated for most of the year, and is still a totem in my life. I also have the number 23 thing, and it turned out that the Tower and the 23rd I Ching hexagram are linked.
