Question Lucid nightmares

Cheers,

I have had earlier lucid dreaming experiences with the reminder technique (asking myself the question "are you awake?" several times a day). Yesterday, I programmed a little program that pops up to my computer screen every ten minutes asking "are you awake?". That worked a bit too well.

I had several (3 or 4?) LD's last night, all of them had the same theme that has also been recurrent in some of my previous dreams. Even if I knew that I was in a dream, I could not fully control them, and as such they became sort of nightmares. They all revolved around an ugly truth of myself that I'm too embarrassed to share with anyone, even as anonymous.

I have been feeling very strange since the morning, and I cannot fully identify the feeling. Even though I can now identify the problem, I don't see any direct way to work it.

* Should I delete the little program and hope for no more LD's - I can barely stand one ugly truth about myself, let alone three at a time?

* How can I get back to the same dream to control/correct the situation? How do I avoid getting another ugly truth before I have worked this one?

Sorry to ask probably a textbook question, but I don't have much experience on this and cannot do a literature search before tonight.

This is not a textbook question at all.

I think you have uncovered something within yourself that you have to work through, as you said. I don't think this is necessarily an LD question.

However, you can try and enter the dream again by intentioning it. It may take several nights but it will come. If this does not work, it WILL come through in your other dreams and manifest itself in various ways. I would keep a dream journal and look for the clues.

This is another stage in you moving on in your life. It's the right time for this stuff to come up and it's the right time to deal with it. I hope it works out and let us know what happens.

Good luck

What a great opportunity for personal development!

I know people talk a lot about EFT on here as a solution - one thing that is brilliant about it that I haven't seen mentioned yet is that it can be used to work on a problem and you can keep that problem secret from the practitioner and just use a code-word.

e.g you can work on 'this africa problem', 'this yellow feeling', 'this ugly truth' or what ever code-word you like. So long as you are tuned in emotionally to the problem, you can have success.
I would recommend working with a practitioner as it sounds like it might be a big issue for you.

Sorry can't help with the LD issue but I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

Well, I have found it better to come to terms with whatever it is you're facing, than to avoid it. So accept it, don't deny it, don't be embarrassed about it. That'll help, I bet you.

P.S. Can ya send me that piece of software? Might be nice for me too...

All I can say is to love yourself by looking at every aspect of yourself learning to love it or change it so you love it--sorry if i'm not that helpful.

But I would also like a program like that!!!

Cheers,

Thanks for the answers! It indeed seems that my life has become more
interesting and exciting. Unfortunately, I slept very badly last night because of trying to "fall directly" into the dream, which always raised my heart rate too much. I hope I can go on with this without the waking life suffering too much.

Another star, in all my threads here, someone brings up EFT - I now nominate this "Smallstar's Law". The code-word thing is interesting though, while it might be effective also outside EFT in some cases. (Also note that as the issue is a big one, I probably overreacted.)

StevenAitchison - I already tried to manifest one solution into my dream, but instead of communication about the issue with an "inner guardian", I ended having socially acceptable small talk in a non-lucid dream (however, the setting provided me with some other important points). How would you recommend doing the manifestation?

Anyway, here is my little software package, containing a Windows executable, source code and a BSD open source license but no comments or documentation. The nag time is fixed into 10 minutes. No fancy auto-startups or such, and if you accidentally kill the program or shut down the computer, you need to re-start manually.

Yeah, I suppose that would work. (Hey, don't look at me, I'm a programmer, not a Windows expert! )
