Hey guys, my name is Nick, I'm twenty one and have been on this journey of self-improvement for the past couple years. However, it wasn't until recently that my childhood teachings have been questioned and my perspective widened. I found myself meeting a teacher who has helped me along my spiritual journey although mainly we are just friends. He helps me with stuff that I need help on but mainly it's pretty much just me finding my own path. I stumbled upon this website the other day after I googled 'body vibrations while still.' It led me to a surprising post where Erin Pavlina, a name I have heard before due to her husband (I believe), shares some thoughts on an out of body experience, or astral projection I believe it's called. I've been meditating for about 6 months now, not every day but maybe 4 or 5 times a week on a good week and I feel like I'm excelling where others are stumbling. I'm not going to lie, as honesty is something I have been consciously working on for the past couple years, the rate at which I am experiencing these phenomena compared to people I've met somewhat scares me and also goes straight to the ego. The first time I meditated was the first night I met my friend and he gave me this vibrational CD thing that I listened to while I was sleeping, apparently stimulating the heart chakra which I choose though not really knowing much about it. I had the most intense visions I've ever had and remember them to this day vividly. I don't want to get into the vision but it definetly got me to sit up with a racing heartbeat and throw off the headphones instantly. I also experienced the loss of form with objects and I thought my eyes were closed but it looked as if they were open and I saw green energy pulsating as outlines of everything in the room. After that I have been going through much transformation and during my meditation experiences, while dreaming, and right before dreaming sometimes I see myself in the first person either jumping off of something but I jerk right before I jump and wake up. The thought of the feeling of falling scares me and gives me more then butterflies and it's soemthing that reoccurs with me. The other night, however, I was simply lying in bed and I noticed that I don't feel any sensation in my lower half and it was like it wasn't even there. I started to feel my bed shaking slightly and I thought it was an earthquake and then I started to get visions in my head and the falling sensation into blackness was happening every couple seconds or so and I was scared out of my mind. The vibration wasn't completely new to me though as it has happened before and occurs quite often in my left leg which usually wakes me up from my meditation though but this time it was in my whole body and although I felt i was completely still I felt the bed move, it was weird. So I spent the night looking at this forum afraid to fall asleep after being somewhat fearful something was after me due to the random noises that would happen whenever I would get deep into meditation particularly that night. The next night, yesterday, I felt a bit more calm and thought I understood what was happening which I was starting to become ok with. I lied down and sure enough the vibrations started again after the lack of sensation. I took erin's advice and remember trying to lift my arm and it hoenstly felt like I lifted it while my arm was physically unmoved. I then lifted my other arm and then tried to sit up. ALl i remember after that was I was scared out of my mind and i freaked out. I remember my vision going fuzzy and pulsating and me trying to fall back into my body which took a couple seconds longer then I cared for. I then opened my eyes and was unsure whether or not that just happened or whether or not it was a dream, which I have become more and more aware of recently. So basically I feel I have a few questions. Is the color green of any significance? Is there any significance to the fear and reoccurance of the feeling of falling? If this is really happening why are some able to do it without having to spend many years practicing? Now that I think about it I will share my first expereince meditating to it as I find it might be interesting to some. I found myself in the first person on the outside of a gated community or apartment complex. I saw a guy dressed in black, and a top hat or something like that, nevertheless a black hat trying to get in. He couldn't get in so he turned around very slowly and made eye contact with me and he had a very gray dark face that I couldn't make out except for the eyes. He reached into his suit and pulled out a coral snake I believe, the yellow, white and black ones that are poisonous and slowly put it on the floor. It searched around for a place to enter and all of a sudden it found a hole in the dirt under the fence. It went to go in the hole and all of a sudden I turned into a snake and in a flash went after the snake. I woke up and that's all I was willing to do for that night lol. I have grown up a very modest person and have catered to others my entire life leaving my own personal self-interest on the backburner. It stemmed from a need of approval and acceptance, however, recently I have learned that sometimes I need to actually put myself out there. I don't really like talking about my experiences as I believe that they really do just get in the way but I would appreciate your input as I am very confused and somewhat fearful. Thank you oh yeah, and I think i saw a ghost one time hovering above me, the first time my leg started to tingle and that was kind of scary. How does one learn to love rather then simply try to protect and live in fear Last edited by jacknick; 01-13-2009 at 09:12 AM. |

As my own teacher once told me, "You've put your foot on the Red Road my friend... Hold on to your hat; it ain't paved." Rapid breakthroughs one after another are not uncommon in the spiritual awakenings I've witnessed and should not be feared. They should also not "go to your ego" as you put it. In some ways, it's like the Spock "live-long-and-prosper" hand sign. Some can do it without thinking but others will struggle their whole lives to get those particular muscles to work in concert. Being able to do it doesn't make you a better Trekkie. Constantly TRYING to do it does. You do have limitations but only you and your Guides will know what they are. Until you find them, keep going. Full throttle. And when you DO find your limitations, don't let that make you feel like a failure. You're still very young and have a great opportunity to really get out and test yourself without Fear. Go for it! |

Hello jacknick - If you are interested - there is a really good book : “Adventures Beyond the Body: How To Experience Out-of-Body Travel”, William Buhlman. It is the most comprehensive book that I have found to date, that really explains a lot of what you are experiencing with OBE's. |

The falling thing, I have read as theorized by science, is a throwback to when we lived and slept in the trees. Be that as it may, it is a primal fear since it is something that can kill our bodies - therefore it is natural for it to be somewhat prominent in our subconscious. | |

In my opinion, the falling sensation is the result of your awareness receding inwards. As you get closer and closer to sleep, your awareness withdraws from normal channels and extends in other areas not as easily accessed upon awakening. The loss of bodily awareness gives the illusion you are falling. In turn, this sensation can cause your astral body, which responds quickly to such thoughts, to actually move downwards through your bed/couch/whatever, which is an alarming feeling to say the least.
