Default Psychics -ability to see your own future?

Question for psychics, does being a psychic mean that you know your own future or things that are going to pop-up?

It means sometimes knowing your future and other times being surprised. Being psychic is like being able to tune in to a radio. sometimes you have it on, sometimes it's turned off. I would go crazy if I kept the radio on all day, listening to every little thing coming down the pike.

And sometimes, you know what's coming but it doesn't mean you can stop it. For example a natural disaster or the death of a loved one.

In other words, being "psychic" is just like being an ordinary human being.

All "ordinary" human beings are psychic, just to differing levels. If you're very psychic you can navigate your way through life with less trauma, that's for sure. If you deny your intuition and connection with your guides you should be prepared to go down many wrong paths before you find the ideal path.

It is not so much being psychic as recognizing the patterns in one's own life.

Don't get me wrong, I think following one's intuition/heart is great for impulse decisions but for life-long stuff I think it just takes a logical mind to know what will happen if one goes down a familiar path.

In this sense I believe that dreams related to 'visions' will likely just be reflecting subconscious knowledge of the information/patterns one already gathered while awake.

Then again, there's a difference between predicting something really random (is anything really unexpected anymore?) and wasting one's time worrying how the future will be.

Devil's Advocate here and I'm basically saying that if a person has only 15 minutes to either draw some cards/tea for a vision or spend that time planning out some fun/important goals...I'd go with the latter. Less paranoia or waiting for the world to align for you and more motivation to make that future that was imagined.

Cards and tea leaves are divination tools, not psychic abilities.

Read my article on the difference between ego, logic, guides and intuition for how I think these all factor in to make a good life.

How To Tell the Difference Between Your Ego, Logic, Spirit Guides and Intuition

There are many psychic abilities. some psychics can predict the future, some see past lives. Some can find missing people or missing keys. Some can talk to the deceased. Some can help you find your soul's purpose while others can help you find a soulmate. all different.

If logic is what works for you, that's great. Not everyone relies on their logic. some people do rely on their intuition which may serve them better than logic and prediction.

I sit corrected. Thank you.

Nice read, easy and clear. But I definitely disagree with this snippet:

"Their [Spirit Guides] primary care is your growth and learning. That sometimes means discomfort for you. For example they might see that the best way to teach you to value money is to send you through a bankruptcy. On the other hand, your ego would never let something like that happen to you if it could help it. "

I've lived my life with the unfortunate belief that pains and struggle are 'good for my growth' but now I'm not so sure if it's all as good as it sounds. I should be able to learn everything I need to know with joy. After all, there are more than enough cases of people suffering now and in the past...I might be able to learn from them.

No direct experience, yes...but I don't intend to jump in lava to relate with someone who was terribly scarred for life because of that event. Nor do I want to have total bankruptcy just to learn about the value of money when I could just as easily talk to people who have been bankrupted and gain (relatively) the same understanding AND the after affects of it.

Maybe it boils down to this: If someone loves me, they will not hit me to teach me a lesson. If I do something stupid then it's my own fault for not heeding the warning signs, but never can I agree that someone (a spiritual guide no less) would intend for me to be hurt.

But hey, I'm still working through my belief system. Perhaps you could show me a different point of view concerning it.

Hah, and I thought telling people to look behind the fridge for their keys came from a logical thought. Thanks for clarifying.^^

I actually strive to live on my intuition more than my logic. I wouldn't say I'm the overly calculating type (unless it's negative, which I try to avoid) but I'm very much a person of impulse when I'm at my best and that leads to the greatest adventures for me.

As for being able to tell what events may occur (disasters, wars, births, etc)...I don't personally care for it. To me, it is more trouble and a time waster than it is worth. Not that I think others shouldn't try it, they're free to explore all they want.

Thank you for responding, Erin.

There are so many ideas in our culture that if you experience pain, that you will end up gaining something from it. I do see truth in this, but I don't see it as a prerequisite to happiness and possitive events occurring in your life. There are many perspectives in our culture that hold (I speak as a North American) that seem to insist that pain is necessary.

The idea that you live a life of suffering so that when you die, then you get your reqard never sat very well with me. I love the idea that I am 100% responsible for my life, and that it is not in the hands of fate. This means that I dont ever have to suffer, if I don't want to. I can choose to see my life in any light I choose. It is incredibly freeing!

Suffering is NOT required in life. However, it is a rare person who skates through life without going through some hardship or heartache.

You didn't incarnate to sit in the corner and watch the world go round. You came to live, to experience, and the guides will nudge you in the direction YOU chose for yourself before you were born, not the direction they need you to go, or even the direction they want you to go, but the direction you need to go to learn what you intended to learn.

I definitely agree that you don't have to live through bankruptcy to understand the value of money, but sometimes that is a valid option for teaching the value of money and management.

It is very interesting that you picked up on bankruptcy, it is an experience I have had. It happened a long time ago. I have learned, since then, to relax and allow, to be at peace with what is, while expecting great things in the future at the same time.

I came across something somewhere that stated that you don't have to do anything until you are divinely inspired to do so. I was such a control freak for so long, that this idea initially felt very foreign. Now, however, I find it comforting. I don't think that means you sit around and wait, but I do think it means to be patient and know that things have a way of working out no matter what, as long as you see what is actually working.

Having said that, I love what you talk about. I stumbled across this web site some time ago, and have found so many things to resonate (here) with me. I have also discovered that I have ways of "seeing" that maybe not everyone is in tune with. I seem to catch glimpses of possibile futures. It isn't something I can turn on or off, but it occurs when I seem to really need it. I did a meditation recently, and actually saw one of my spirit guides. She looked like an angel. Listening to you helps me to recognize others have similar experiences.
