I'm really enjoying the book "So, You Want to be a Medium?". A large part of the book is devoted to exploring how to develop a relationship to your spirit guides. The author believes there are four guides that help with day-to-day stuff, and one Master Guide for each person. There are other guides, as well, but it's these five she writes about. I won't go into the details here, but it's been an interesting and enlightening read. I wonder how much of the beliefs are what she's intuited, and how much are from her study of Spiritualism. Anyhoo - she writes about finding the name of your spirit guides, and gives exercises to do so. I hadn't done an exercise, but just thinking of the book here and there, made me wonder about mine. I'm not in the habit of thinking of specific guides; Erin's blog was the first place I came across that method of communication, or the first place it stuck, anyway. Usually stuff just comes to me - but I'm understanding now, if I develop a relationship to my guides, more stuff will "come to me", more accurately. For the past week, the song "You Can Call Me Al" has been stuck in my head almost continuously. I have frequently received messages in songs, but I could not figure out the message here, so I figured it was just a stuck song - until last night, when I realized I had been thinking of spirit guide names. I laughed and laughed when I figured it out. I think "Al" is the name for my collected guides, and the message is - Call us anything, as long as you call us. They'll call me Betty, I can call them Al. It's all good. The song's stuck no longer - I got it! A week or so ago, I worked out that one of my guides is named Phil. I cannot now remember all the puns I was thinking of when that name came to me, but I was laughing and laughing, all by myself in my room. Well - me and my guides, I guess! Philo, used as a prefix, means "love of", then of course, there's Phil/fill and Phil/feel... there were many more - wish I could remember! But the feeling of... joy that I had was such a nice confirmation for me. Phil might be my joy guide, I get a smile anytime I think of that name. This has been really fun! |
