Is the adage, "things happen 4 a reason" accurate?

A thought came into mind about the saying that goes as follows:" everything that takes place in your life happens for a reason ", but is it really that accurate? For instance, in my case not passing the Academy was that suppose to actually take place, what is the purpose behind that? I know for a fact that that is the line of work I want to do, so what prevented me from moving forward in my career. Was it my negative attitude towards my peers that created my downfall? or was it the wrong time for me to proceed with my desired career? or was it the negative energy that people put on me that caused my downfall. Has anyone experienced this? if so,you know I will love to get some insight into your thoughts and opinion.

Hi Destine. I believe that old adage to be true although in the face of being denied something that we want so badly, it is hard to see it as part of a larger plan.

I have found that time, as well as being a healer is a revealer when we are in a current state of disappointment with some situation or another.

You said you didn't get into the "academy". I don't know if you mean a school or police academy or what, but I can tell you that about 13 years ago I experienced the same situation with regard to a police academy. Today I see the different path that my life has taken and the situation I find myself in is no doubt very different than where I would be had that path taken another course. I can't imagine I would be happy or fufilled today had those events come to pass, although you could not have told me so during that time.

It is only now that the sting of rejection has receded and I can look around at my life and see all that I have been blessed with and am truly thankful for.

I have a hunch you will feel the same way in the future.

Thank you Kimperial I needed that !And yes it was the Police Academy I failed but I don't know what to do now because in my heart I always wanted to be an Officer. So now where do I go from here? I am considering getting into law enforcement still, just not that department. I don't see the bigger picture I'm lost and confused because I know I want it but is that what I'm destined for.

It's a most confusing thing.. when things don't work out and yet again they do..

It's confusing in the fact that different teachers.. kind of say different things.. I've heard it said that if a door is closed that didn't mean you couldn't go through it.. and then there is the flip side.. a door is closed it means go another way..

But I digress the more I spend time in loa theory/religion the more I learn life is not a coincidence.. while those around me believe it is..

Today I had the coincidence of hitting a stone in the road.. taking out my tire.. and laughing in my car as I remembered my last fortune.. which said "I have a decision to make" and the decision in the car was simple change my own tire or have someone else do it for me both were valid options.. but the one that resonated with my higher self and who I wanted to be seemed to the one to lean too..

I just don't believe that coincidence popped a stone in the road or that I was somewhat distracted and hit it.. I believe the course of events was a chain that I allowed

You are right everyone is in control of their destiny and he/she decides what will be accomplished here on earth when faced with making decisions. The higher self will usually guide you to the right path and show you the way to go to reach your goal.

The implication, that everything leads up to a pleasant or beneficial outcome, is "wishful thinking"; not quite false, but certainly not quite true either!
