recurring bad dreams and nightmares

i've had problems sleeping recently; often my sleep is cut short when i awake from some sort of bad dream or nightmare.

i've noticed two reoccurring themes/events in these dreams:

1 - mice or rats. they are not afraid of people like they would be in real life. in my dreams, they deliberately jump on me, attack me, bite me. and the pain from the bites is real - i will wake up and still feel the tingling pain for a short while before it dissipates.

2 - "evil". i don't know what else to call it. it's like a consciousness that is evil, and it takes delight in tormenting me. usually this evil-conscious-force is invisible, but sometimes it will take a form, although the form it takes varies. and it will usually cause me to feel physical pain, too.

my most recent dream encounter with the evil: out of now where, an invisible sources started nudging me, but then became more violent - nudges turned into pushes and shoves, increasing with intensity, and i think it tried to choke me before i woke up. i was still very tired as i hadn't slept that long, so i went back to sleep. but then had more dreams with the same evil. this time it tried taking the form of my father, to gain my trust - but i somehow knew it wasn't him and that it was the evil. it was furious at me that i saw past its trick; i tried remaining strong that it couldn't hurt me. it was up to the challenge and the evil (as the father) transformed into a cloud of black (think of that black cloud stuff from the film 'The Green Mile') and descended upon me... it went straight through me and left an aching pain in my heart. I woke up, still very tired and still not having slept all that much.

I'm getting very tired. I wish I could make these bad dreams/nightmares go away. The mice dreams have been haunting me for a few months by now I think, but the 'evil' dreams, I believe, have only started happening within the past month or so.

Any thoughts? Input? Advice?

hmmmm.

usually when you have reoccuring dreams your unconscious wants you to realize something. this is my experience.

i would look up what rats and mice symbolize and see how it relates to your life. i do recall mice having to do with illusions.. perhaps some beliefs in your life are limiting you from potential?
just a thought i threw out there.. maybe not the case.

as for 'evil'. hmm. perhaps there are people in your life that have influence over you that you're not too happy about.
