Losing your psychic abilities

I remember from a book I read when I was just beginning to get interested in the world of metaphysics about a psychic who lost her abilities, 100 percent of it, due to her ego being so large that she thought that all these abilities were coming from her. Is that even possible? It sounds more like those authors that used to say that there are astral police out there and if you commit a bad act, they will force you back into your body, any thoughts on losing your psychic abilities?

Well I don't believe necessarly that she thought all her abilities were coming from her....rather that she prided herself on these things and thus brought her ego into them. "I'm so good I have all these psychic abilities." ect. Yes your abilities can weaken if you don't continually train them....but they don't just vanish into thin air if you don't. Also I know a psychic who let her ego get involved in a relationship. Needless to say her abilities greatly dimished...but nevertheless she still retains some of her psychic abilities. The way I like to think of it is "psychic" is like a muscle. The more you train it the bigger and stronger it gets. If you don't train it..it doesn't vanish..it just isn't very strong. I hope that helps.

I agree, as a practicing psychic I find it hard to believe that my skills would simply vanish overnight.

Now, I have had maybe two instances when I was in a real emotional situation that my Guides did not want me to access Akashic Records for my clients. I took that as excellent advice - sometimes our mental or emotional energy is running too high to tune in to the subtler energies of the spiritual realm.

I agree that psychic skills are developed and honed over time, with practice.

I've been under a lot of emotional stress for the last month and I have not been having my usual dreams with messages in them. Plus I have been feeling disconnected from others when I usually can pick up other people's energy really well.

I wouldn't say I'm losing 100% my budding abilities though.
