I have read a couple of posts on this site about lucid dreams so I did some research on the topic and I could not help but ask this question: What is the point of ludic dreams? From what I understand it is controling your dreams to have your desired outcome or is it just being more aware that you are in a dreamstate and observe more clearly the events happen? Please forgive me if I have gotten it completely wrong, that is why I am asking this question. Thanks |

Hello Tabs, I think that the 'point' of lucid dreaming is what you make it to be. What is the point of daydreaming, of imagination? Take that, square or cube it and you've got a point for lucid dreaming. For me, it's just a lot of fun when I manage to have a lucid dream. Flying, Exploring, what you described as "your desired outcome"; even just being more aware can itself be a reward. You can find a compilation of more reasons here: Why attempt to have Lucid Dreams?. DataWraith, thank you so much for the link, I will be exploring the site to get more answers to my question. I am one of the people that believe in one of the misconceptions mentioned "Dreams contain messages that are lost with lucid dreaming." But I am assuming that most people get messages in their dreams. May be by the time you master lucid dreams you already know how to decipher messages in your dreams. I also have very vivid dreams and love to go wherever my dreams take me, except in nightmares or dreams influenced by the last thing I watched on tv. I had heard of lucid dreams in the past and just associated it with Freud, good recall or dreams where you feel you left your body. But in the last few days I just could get my mind off it and decided to do more research. I am still not convinced as to why, don't you just want to turn consciousness off at some point? Well, I am very open to learning something new. Thanks for the information. Cheers |

Well you know how dreams feel realistic? Most people just watch dreams like a movie. Now you know daydreams? Where you're wake, but you're just using your imagination and making things up yourself, but it's not realistic at all. Lucid dreaming is just combining the two. |

my current understanding of things is as follows. lucid dreams are there to make you realise that you are a creator of your reality. they are little tasters of physical reality. when we dream we are in the astral planes and things manifest instantly, thought = reality. the same rule applies in waking life too, things just take a bit longer to manifest. when we have a lucid dream, we become aware of the fact that we create our own reality. if this awareness is then brought back into waking life, we will break free from the limitations we impose on ourselves and gain the courage to be anything we desire. lucid dreams are also useful to practice letting go of the fear that limits us in being our full potential. |
