Default OBE from a Lucid dream?

Does anyone have any personal experience with this?

I posted a while back about being paralyzed or blind in one eye during lucid dreams. Of course, it keeps happening, but it seems now that I'm just bouncing between being awake and paralyzed and then falling back into a dream (which takes on the characteristics of what I was experiencing when briefly awake).

It reminds me of what people sometimes describe during OBEs, though I've definitely never had a deliberate one before.

During today's I was flying over some ground when my vision started to go dark. I normally just wave my arms and watch their silhouette against the dark background. That or I spin around, or do something else to bring the dream back (anything that creates a strong sensation can plunge you back i n).

This time just as it felt like the dream was starting to resurface I got hit with a jolt and woke up lying on my side paralyzed. My vision flickered in and out a bit like a TV with bad reception. I even hallucinated a small animation in the corner of my vision. I kept going like this for a good little while, feeling energy (eletrocution without the pain? Just the feeling of your body being asleep or not moved for a long time?) before it all faded away and I just woke up a bit groggy.

I also often hear someone's voice when I'm in these between states. More often than not I know they're speaking, but I have no idea what they're saying. It's as if the brain isn't processing it at all so even if they're words I just hear gibberish. It happens so often that I just chalk it up to auditory halucinations from the hypnogogic state and ignore the fact that my senses are telling me there is a scary old witch chanting in my bed next to me

I know this is a roller coaster of strange, but who has had something similar to *any* of this happen to them?

I'll be cool and reply to my own post.

So, similar things happened this morning. I realized I was dreaming but the dream wasn't very strong. I was pretty close to waking up anyway. I started to feel myself lying in bed and now I'm not sure whether I've woken up or if I'm just dreaming I'm in bed.

I love dreaming though, so I try to push it a bit further. I roll to the right, onto my back and then back onto my stomach. I'm pretty sure I'm not fully awake now and I start to float up above my bed. I look down and see myself sleeping there. Of course, the covers seem to be pulled over me a bit more than I know they are. I then glide gently through my room and notice some things are out of place. The laundry hamper isn't where I put it the other day, and there is something in the bathroom sink. I KNOW I'm way too neat for that to happen. I conclude it must just be a normal dream.

This is precisely the reason I gave up on OBEs a long time ago. When you can have extremely convincing lucid dreams, and your mind knows more or less what it *should* look like, it's pretty hard to tell one way or the other. I wouldn't even know what the difference was if it knocked one of my teeth out.

Although, lets put it in perspective...hey, at least the lucid dreams are a lot of fun!

Advice or reactions from you guys?

Ah, my confusion continues.

Today rather than experiencing something coming out of a dream, I had an experience from being awake. This time it was more traditional. I got that warm feeling all over my body where it almost doesn't feel as if it is in the bed anymore. Then, for hte first time in a long time, I got that electronic like-a-modem-trying-to-connect sound in my ears. A few seconds later I felt like I was floating away from where I was lying. My vision was black at first and then looked like someone had turned the brightness up on the monitor WAY too high and put vaseline all over the lens. Everything was bright and washed out.

Finally I saw what looked like my body lying in bed..only no covers anywhere. My covers are also white with a pattern of black braided lines. My body looked like it had one of those lines across it running from my lower right hip up to my left shoulder. Then I woke up to see my fist next to my face since I'd been sleeping on my hand. Reasonably tight correlation between the image I "saw" versus what my physical eyes would have been seeing.

I find this amusing because the part of me that believes that was an OBE got all the evidence it needed. It's not exactly an everyday experience. The part of me that is a skeptic doesn't think it was even close to satisfying the burden of proof. The skeptic just thinks I saw my fist in a weird brain state. I think this is hilarious. Now I know why you can't ever convince someone to change their views!

I've been hoping *someone* will jump in and share their experiences and help me understand a bit of what is going on. If not, I promise I'll stop keeping what's turning into my dream blog in the forum.

Don't worry, circumstances like that are quite common. Sometimes I wake up and am not totally in body

I'm hanging out from time to time on the alstral pulse forum and I've read about quite a lot of experiences about having a lucid dream which turned into an OBE, apparently one of the ways to get an OBE is to learn to have a lucid dream and then try to project from there. Alas, I'm still trying to have both...I did have a false awakening the other day though

Yeah, Kislany... That's been one of the most difficult things for me. I swear I've had like 50 gazillion false awakenings. My mind knows enough of what I expect an experience to look like and it delivers it to me so well I can't tell the difference.

Still, while it would be nice to *know* what's going on, it doesn't mean the experiences aren't all still fun. The only frustrating ones are when I end up paralyzed in my sleep (probably because I briefly woke up still paralyzed and then fell straight back into a lucid dream).

I think it will be a while before I figure out how to do it from a lucid dream..but I am all ears for others that do it regularly who want to share
