Default Latest Astral Experience and Questions

Last night I woke up in the sleep paralysis state, as I usually do a few times a week. I felt the vibrations and electricity and heard the whooshing sounds and whatnot - the normal stuff, from what I understand.

I was laying there and I could see my room, but I couldn't really move or get out of my body. I wasn't ready to ease out yet, so it was a struggle to pry my astral body away from my physical body, and whenever I started to get too far, I'd lose my vision and the feelings of vibration and electricity would become too intense. (It's happened to me tons of times like that.)

So I was just laying there experiencing it. I think I finally got ready to leave my body, and I barely recall leaving and coming back a few times, which is what usually happens. I do not remember what I see or where I go when I leave. I never do, save for just a few occasions. After I was a few minutes into this experience, currently in my body but still astral aware and physically paralyzed, I entered what seems like a lucid dream. Most of my astral experiences that I remember seem to occur while I'm astral aware, but just lying still and observing and listening to what's happening around me.

I'm laying there, looking at my room, but it's dark and my vision is blurry, and I generally don't remember detail from these experiences. I can hear a radio - music. I think it's either coming form the bathroom around the corner, or from the bookshelf near my bed. (Neither of which have a radio in the real world.) For some reason it seems to me like there's somebody in the bathroom listening to the radio, but I've lived alone in this apartment the whole time I've been here. (And there certainly was not someone physically in my apartment.) I couldn't really tell what was going on. I thought it was possible that the radio was just sitting on my bookshelf - but for some reason it felt to me at the time that I wasn't alone, yet it was not creepy at all. It was a good feeling. By the way, it's extremely hard to explain what I was thinking or feeling during this experience, because I don't think my brain works the same way it does when I'm fully awake and able to move.

I could hear song after song on the radio. I'm consciously aware in my mind, listening to this music, while my body is still paralyzed. I started to think about how amazing this was. I wondered what would happen if my brain waves were being recorded onto a computer right then. Was I creating music with one part of my brain and listening to it in another part plain as day? (Not meaning left and right hemisphere...) Amazing! I've always been fascinated by the brain and I've always wanted to make discoveries and figure out ways to maximize it's potential.

I also thought about, while listening to this music, how I tend to think differently while in a state like this. I'm conscious, but if I had to guess, it's almost like my subconscious mind is highly influencing my thoughts as I have them. I say this because for as long as I can remember waking up in this state and then just thinking, my thoughts have often been childish and ill-formed, and I often don't know what year it is or which house I live in. Scientific by nature, I'd like to perform experiments during this stage but my conscious mind just doesn't work the way it does while I'm fully awake and therefor I have trouble keeping it focused on intelligently guided experiments. I'm fully aware, and sometimes I even know exactly where I am and what day it is, and I can think clearly, but it's just that this world seems so different from my waking world, that I don't do what my physically awake self would want. The thoughts I want to make myself think ahead of time never come, because I seem to get carried away with the experience and lose all track, or interest, in the waking world and the thoughts I carry around with me then.

I was clearheaded enough to try to remember some of the song lyrics that I was hearing. I figured I would look them up later and see if I could find anything. It was hard to understand the words, and it wasn't exactly crystal clear, considering everything that was going on. It was just weird. But, I would be successful, and slowly I could understand the lyrics better. The music sounded like 80s rock to me. The singer reminded me of Axl Rose, as he was sort of high pitched and screechy sounding.

I distinctly remember him saying "Ain't no reason, baby." Then some words that I didn't understand. Then "...What you need..." I used all of my will power to escape the paralysis and then I quickly wrote the lyrics down.

I find out song titles all the time by searching for parts of lyrics. That's definitely enough to find a song, and I found nothing with those lyrics.

Questions: Was that a lucid dream or an astral experience? Maybe it started out astral and ended up a lucid dream?

Have they ever recorded someone's brainwaves on a computer while they were experiencing something like this. I'm sure they have. What were the results? Is there a place I can read about it? I'm extremely interested.

Is there a huge correlation between lucid dreaming and the subconscious mind? What is going on with the conscious and aware, yet foggy and childish, thinking that happens during the paralysis state?

What does this stuff mean? Where is science trying to go with it? How is it explained scientifically now? Other explanations? What kind of potential does this stuff point to? Are you using more brain power during a lucid dream, or are you just using the same amount of brain power in a different way?

Did this song come from me, somewhere else, or was it something that I had heard before? My guess is that some part of my brain was creating it as I listened to it.

Thank you for your interest, and I'm willing to answer questions if you have them.
