got a psychic aura reading....AMAZING

So I went to a psychic yesterday. She read my aura, and then we talked. She was amazing. She said that I was a good man, but too distracted by negative energy right now. She said that my mind and heart are pure, but there is too much negative energy, and that that is not my destiny, I don't have to deal with those things (now, i am aware that these are general, but i know she is right). She also said that I inherited psychic gifts, and that I have the propensity to turn to black magic because of the negative energy and that my chakras are plugged and full of sludge, but don't do it!
Then she got specific about personal things, she even know that I recently had disastrous car trouble, and that I was taking a summer class. She knew I was a writer as well, and what I will study in the future. She even named the first letter of an ex (but I didn't want to hear that haha, but I listened)! When I got home and wrote down everything she told me, I realized those two pages I wrote summed up my entire life!! Something I could never do on my own!! She was really spectacular!

She also said I am very wise, and an old soul. I have no idea what that is. Do you?

She wants to do a meditation for me to unplug my chakras and open me up (for the low, low, low, cost of 300 dollars!!!) I was like "argggggh!" I know they want you to come back, but I think through more study and meditation, I can do that on my own...only it wont be as immediate! What do you guys think?

Her post yesterday has useful information, too: How do you open and close chakras?

$300 sounds excessive to me. I've visited skilled practitioners of many types who charge in the $100 to $150 range for 1-1.5 hours, and more than one of those does energy work and clears chakras. (Here's an example of someone with standard/reasonable prices: Bente Hansen)

The "you have a blockage that I will fix for $300" vibe is a HUGE turn-off for me, too. It feels manipulative.

This is a classic scam used by charlatans. I hope everyone is reading this.

Classic I tell you! The psychic will go on about negative energy, scaring the crap out of you, promising you wonderful things if you could only clear up this energy. I'll bet her initial reading was less thatn $50 right? And then they get you on the upsell: For $200 I'll clear your aura, or cleanse your chakras, or remove your curse, or remove your energy.

Now, going back to energy practitioners... it IS true that an energy practitioner can cleanse your chakras for you. If this is the service they normally perform that's fine. But you've got to watch out for the charlatan psychics who get you all worked up and scared and then charge you to keep you safe.

If I'm doing a reading for someone and I see their aura or chakras all screwed up I teach them how to clear it on their own.

Actually finding someone with negative energy attachments is so rare.

You bet WRONG! It was actually $100. Now you owe me a free reading (JUST KIDDING!). I thought it was really expensive, and our session was only a half hour, but that is O.K. I have actually never seen a psychic in action, so I really needed to see her tell me about my whole life when I tell her nothing. Just feeling her energy as she read my aura, and listening to what she was saying was a little bit of a validation for me to continue on my own spiritual journey (sometimes, I really feel like I am crazy), so I am actually not hard pressed to give up 100 dollars for that.

As far as negative energy goes, she might be right to some extent. I know that it is extremely difficult for me to meditate, or to be inspired and work on music or something, because as soon as I start to feel good, other people I know (who I often suspect of having tons of negative energy) will call or visit, or do something to me right at that time. That will take a little introspection on my part, I'm just not sure about that whole negative energy thing and how that truly works. But NOW I realize she may have been trying to scare me....yuck! But she didn't scare me one bit, because she didn't tell me much I didn't already know (except that a better job is coming my way soon, thank God! ...she may have just started an intention of change for me right there, but WHATEVER!).
For example, I was setting to meditate today, and someone just came home who has been causing a lot of trouble, and now I have to check things out. I push meditating off till later once again. But that's life

Steve Halpern made a CD of Chakra music which must work since everytime I use it my whole body starts buzzing (high energy!) and I feel so much better. It costs only about $15 or $16 at Borders book store.

You might want to try it! Much cheaper than $300! Yikes!
