Default Realization about astral projection

I've been trying for 8 years to finally astral project (or have an out of body experience) but when I finally just decided to try something else (lucid dreaming) I finally realized (after I started to get lucid dreams by the ton) that I never really needed astral projection. As it turns out, all the stuff that I wanted to do (be able to fly among many other things) I was able to do in a lucid dream but I never realized it. I even tried lucid dreaming for the sole purpose of astral projecting but it never happened (astral or lucid). I then decided to pursue lucid dreaming alone and it turned out I was a natural at it and I started to have lucid dreams and realized what I was looking for wasn't astral projection, but instead it was lucid dreaming! According to what I heard from people who do astral projection, I should strive for it but I love lucid dreaming and it feels like lucid dreaming was what I was really looking for all that time, am I missing out on anything by not pursuing astral projection?

I find that Lucid dreaming is like a fun holodeck playground and Astral projection is a hardcore adventure... I don't have to much experience but from what i have felt they feel a lot different. It seems for me at least that it is very hard to get control while APing but in a lucid dream its just like real life but you have total control of everything around you kinda like instant intention manifestation.
Also during AP you have 360 vision and that is very confusing and i haven't quite figured it out. I have had a few dreams that i was APing but they just turned out to be dreams of me floating around like a ghost a lot different from the few experiences of AP that i have had.

I will note that i am by no means a expert on this stuff maybe reading some stuff by Robert Bruce or Robert Monroe will help you out on your journey.

Peace and Love

Yes lucid dreaming awesome. Astral projection very optional. I don't think anyone needs to experience astral projection to live a proper life.

In my limited experience I think dreams, lucid dreaming and astral projection all happen in the same place. But the quality of them (how aware you are and how much stuff you are just projecting) varies between them. Unfortunately not enough experience to say much more.

Hi Mew3692002,

Like Erin said, if you feel happy and satisfied with lucid dreaming, that's all you need. Many interesting things have happened with lucid dreams, like finding the solution to a problem- the solution for problem of the first working sewing machine was reportedly revealed in a dream....... ..and besides they're just plain fun......
The things you can do when you know you're dreaming.....

One advantage I can think of is that astral projection is the twin sister of the near death experience, so it can give you an opportunity to get those long sought after answers to questions that you see here in these posts and discussions;

Past life, karma stuff, who or what or even if there is a god, ect. In fact, right now, possibly the only way to verify if these things are real, and even then only to yourself..... but at least you get direct evidence if you can do it....

Take care.......

Yes for me the big benefit of astral projection was knowing without a doubt that I am a conscious being, a soul, and that my soul can live without the body.

So it really isn't that worthwhile for me, one of my natural talents happens to be in writing stories (not articles but novels and intriguing stories) and as far as I've seen, lucid dreaming has helped me big time in that area (also helped me to get a rather large fan base as well). I dunno about astral projection, but I do believe I will stick to lucid dreaming.

This would be the #1 most life improving (maybe more accurately life defining)thing I could possibly learn. So much of this stuff (astral projection) just seems over my head. I have lucid dreamed a few times though.

While we're still on the topic, does anyone know if you really can time travel while APing?

Yes, I've never actually done it myself, but I've heard many stories of people who time travled while Astral Projecting, including AP expert Robert Bruce. However, I don't think it's possible for one to change the past if that's what you're getting at.

Assuming it does exists, one thing I like about the concept of astral projection is the, 'don't take my word for it, prove it for yourself', attitude. At least that way, the person, teacher or author cannot ask you to just believe what he or she is saying, but have your own experiences and come to your own conclusions.

And the thing is, a lot of the issues on this forum can't easily be proven ... not by discussion, or by reading other people's experiences, so the idea that you can see, hear, feel these things for yourself makes astral projection pretty worthwhile...

Some surveys of people who have O.B.E.s and N.D.Es stated that the most common benefits they have, is no longer fearing death, having answers to sought after questions and a general sense of well being with life (i.e, there is more to this life) Notice Erin's attitude, you can sense the confidence, and assurance...

And then..there's the fun stuff! Spying on and pinching people, astral sex stuff, time travel, astral sex stuff and exploring different levels of existence......

By the way about lucid dreams, don't you like when you realize you're having one and start telling people to do things and they just do it? lol....

Take care everybody...

I think if its possible for your "soul" to become separate with your physical body, then its very possible to have 360 vision

I can't even fathom 360 vision, and I've heard it is possible with AP. Just one more reason to learn it.

Supposedly, AP decreases fear in addition to being fun. If you can overcome those fears easily without it, then great. But if you can't or just want a short-cut, having tried AP can either help, or just give you peace that you tried it.

I'm very interested in the spiritual aspects of it, rather than the fun, so LD isn't enough for me. I've wanted an OBE since childhood and just didn't realize it. It's kind of a catch-22, though, since I have anxiety that makes altered states of consciousness difficult to achieve, yet learning those techniques would diminish my anxiety. Hmm. . .
