| Hey all, I've had an interesting and extremely frequently reoccurring phenomenon of blindness during my dreams and I was wondering if anyone else had ever experienced something like this before? I'm a semi accomplished lucid dreamer and have had 100's of them in the past couple years. My dream recall is typically pretty good too, but as with everything my ability to do it fluctuates with how much energy and attention I'm devoting to it. I've been intrigued by the idea of Astral Projection and have had some experiences I think count, but the problem is that I also have a HUGE number of "false awakenings" (dreaming phenomenon where you actually dream you wake up in your room but in all actuality you are still asleep). This has made it difficult for me to tell. So, I have this thing that keeps happening to me. I am routinely blind in one eye and sometimes also suffering from various degrees of paralysis during my dreams (legs, one side of body, arms, etc.) I wake up more than a handful of times every month when I'm still paralyzed (hypnagogic state?) and this seems to have trickled into my dreams too. Today I was playing with this paralysis in a semi-lucid / vivid dream. After exerting a gigantic amount of effort to drag myself off of the bed in my room (still dreaming of course) I started limping around and noticed I was blind out of my right eye. Vision was hazy out of the left one too. It felt like the right one was shut so I actually pried it open in my dream, only to see nothing or at most just a hazy transparent outline of any object. I actually moved my head back and forth and objects in my left field of vision would clear up, and then disappear when I shifted them towards the right. Interestingly, I sleep on my side, and typically the eye that I'm blind out of, corresponds to the one that is buried in the mattress. It's all a bit weird and I have never heard of anyone else with this, so I'm just throwing it out there to see if anyone can relate... Thanks for reading.. |
