black cat dreams?

Hey-
I'm not usually much of a poster here, but recently have been dreaming incessantly of these mostly-black cats (one has white points- like the one I saw in the cemetary last month; another has some dark brown stripes; another one I think was pretty much all black)- they're sort of just popping up as unowned strays in all of the normal family/work/nature stuff that normally fills my dreams, and I find myself in the dreams stopping to pet and play with them, they seem to like me and follow me around a bit, and I start to want to adopt them, but so far all I've done is play and pet and fall in love with them a bit. Anyone have any suggestions on where to start in interpreting? normally my dreams are fairly straightforward or just random and don't repeat, so don't know what to think of these insistent lovely black cats everywhere.

Jaamkie, the dream interpretation all relies on you- How do you feel about black cats? What do they make you think of? Based on what you said, it sounds as if these black cats are playful, and seem like a more positive side than negative. Also, just putting this out there, but have you ever considered that these black cats may be your spirit animals/guides? What is the feeling you get around them? Have you grown up with a lot of black cats in your past?

black cats... mostly make me think of my family cat, she was nearly-black, lived with me last year for a month or so then gave her away to a friend who completely fell in love with her- felt like I couldn't give her as much attention and love, she's now fat and spoiled and very loved also make me think of this (stray, feral?) cat I saw in the cemetary- have listened secondhand to a lot of grief over deaths recently, so cemetaries/death connections could go a lot of ways now...

When I think of black cats more generically I think of slightly-irritating but also irresistable independence and mystery and intelligence; which actually is a very accurate definition of this guy- we were dating, then he had personal things going on in his life and we were physically apart for a few months, now he is back and we have a happy friendship which he enthusiastically pursues, but I'm still not sure if/when he'll really be ready to date again. hm maybe not so mysterious... not that it suggests much of anything except to just enjoy things as they are and let them develop in time... which is already sort of where I was at with it all. So still not sure WHY I've got such an insistent feeling about these dreams as if I'm missing something important.

I don't know about validity of dream symbols, but they say black cats are a symbol of intuitive powers. You say you're stopping to play with them during ordinary situations, but only play. Maybe that is indicative of you flirting with your intuition in the physical world. It could also do with your own cats, I have a black cat and dream about him every once in a while, so I'm not really sure.

I have a black cat. She's pretty much all black with the exception of the odd white hair here and there and a little bit on her belly. She's the friendliest cat I've ever known. Maybe my cat is visiting you in your dreams!? :P

You just described my cat!! All black, little bit of white, EXTREMELY friendly...with a big long furry tail thats longer than him!
