Default Help with a recurring dream?

Hey guys, I'm just looking for a little help with a dream I keep having. It's a little different every time, but it's pretty much the same dream from what I'm getting.

All 3 dreams are in my bedroom. Nothing is really changed, it looks like my bedroom. In the first dream, there was a humongous rat in the room with a very long tail. Very long tail. The rat was light grey or white, I cannot remember, but it had a grey and very long tail. I was mortified. I'm surprised I wasn't scared awake. It was just sitting in the middle of the room. I asked my friend to help me catch it, but we couldn't. I tried to get my cat to catch it, but he wouldn't try either.

The second dream, there were bugs all over my bed and the walls by the window. They were coming in the window. It wouldn't have been so bad, but the bigs were huge and nasty, and again, I was mortified.

The third dream, again, was in my bedroom. There were a bunch of people I know, who I don't really like to be around there. They were making a mess. And I was angry. My dogs, and one of the kid's dogs (he carried with him everywhere) were there eating old food and trash on the floor, and I was screaming and very frustrated trying to get them to stop. There were also people I didn't know coming in and out of the bedroom, it was total chaos...

Any suggestions? I had these dreams in very close range. The second I had at nighttime, and the third the next day during a nap!

Thanks for reading

Furthermore, anyone know a good way to learn dream interpretation?

I looked up a few key terms from what you described, and the overall theme is worry and doubt.

Try using an online dream dictionary and look up words from your dream, like "rat" "bugs" "garbage" , even down to something seemingly insignificant like "window." For example... I dreamt I had a conversation with a close friend while I was dicing tomatoes. Tomatoes was not the focus of the dream at all, but it did had meaning.

Hi danman,

I’ve always been interested in dreams. For years I wrote mine down and recorded them (and sometimes I was able to interpret them). I came across a chat site a while back that has a dream room. The site is run by a psychic/medium and tends to have many psychics there. They have been awesome interpreting my dreams for me. The site is Like-Mindz Spiritual Community - Home

It’s usually very active in the evenings after 6 EST. Not sure what’s it like before that.

You should check it out and see if you can get an answer to these dreams.

Good luck.

Interesting update...saw a mouse in my room a few months ago, tried to catch it, but couldn't. I thought it went away, until about a month later (last week), I saw a mouse again (the same one or a different one I don't know, but it was larger than the first, so it could have grown)! This one I caught...I thought all was well, until the next day my cat caught one in the bathroom outside of my room. Then this morning, I was thinking about how the mouse situation was over, and I saw ANOTHER mouse in the bathroom! This one refuses to be caught too. There have also been various critters (worms, spiders, gnats, ect.) I have seen lately. I definitely attribute it to the weather (very very rainy, then a major hot heat wave...+100 degreesF!), but it does correlate to the dream!

Umm let me take a stab at interpreting your dreams.
They certainly could be manifestations of the feelings you had in real life about the mouse, critters etc.
However, your real life mouse/cat/critter encounters could be a metaphor for something deeper you need to take a closer look at, figure out, work on or release..
The dream is more exaggerated and intense leaving you feeling (I'm presuming here as per your post) frustrated, angry and helpless about a chaotic situation..

Seemingly obvious observations that may be cliche'
  • Who’s a fat rat in your life? (sneaky, clever, stingy, pack-like)
  • Who’s bugging you in your life? (irritating, showing up uninvited, crossing your boundaries)
  • Bedroom-I think any room represents your “house”, your soul, the bedroom your private intimate space
  • Dog’s eating old food and trash: man’s best friend and man’s best friend of friends ingesting, taking in old stuff, stuff you consider to be trash, no longer usable.
  • Are you going through a transition or wanting to make big changes and feel that others aren’t, leaving you feeling alone in your efforts, journey etc? OR maybe you just want to be left alone in your journey to change?
Anyway that’s my two cents, could be way off, but thought it might be useful..please ignore if it isn't..

Once I dreamt my water-heater broke down. It never did. I interpreted the dream in lots of ways, psycho-analyzed myself sideways, looked at it from a Jungian point of view, from an anxiety point of view, from fear that things I rely on might fail...
Next day, guess what? You got it. My water heater broke down.
That taught me a lesson.
