Question Distinguishing your psychic abilities from worry...

Hi Erin et all,

I have a question for you regarding distinguising your psychic ability from worry.

I remember when I was very young, I may have only been about 5 years old. I woke up one night I was crying and I was screaming at my mom begging her to called my grandad because I felt there was something wrong with him. To pacify me she called him and he said he was fine.

A couple of weeks later he passed away.

I've known for years that I do have psychic abilities but there are times when I am wrong. I find that I sometimes get confused with whether I'm actually just genuinely worried about someone or whether I am getting some sort of psychic message.

Just a couple of months ago, I had a vivid dream about a friend of mine who has a thyroid problem and without her daily medication may die. In the dream I dreamt that she forgot her medicine and became really ill. I sent her a txt message to tell her about the dream, she was on holiday and said that everything was fine and she was taking her medication as she should be.

See now was that a psychic message, or was that just me as a friend who was showing genuine concern? How can I deciher any thoughts and feelings I get and know which ones are genuine or which ones are me just worrying?

I've had experiences like that too, Amit. I've asked other folks about how to know the difference between psychic information and ideas based in something else (frequently fear), but never gotten a really good answer. I do find that when I'm low on energy, I'm much more prone both to worry and to wonder if it's something extrasensory.

Hi FP,

It's not something I think about too much, it's more out of curiosity and is there any easy way of knowing or is it simply a case of going with my intuition and gut feeling. Would you mind telling me about the experiences you've had?

In April, 2005, I was sitting next to a close friend who was visiting from out of town, and I looked over and saw death on him. I don't really know how to explain the experience other than to say I had a very strong impression that he would die soon. I thought, "My God, he's only 26! Wait--he's 25 now--why did I just think 26?"

I rationalized it away, and went home and wrote in my journal: Every time I see X, I feel like I'm never going to see him again. And I never did. He died in January of this year, at age 26.

I've had a number of psychic experiences, but that was one of the most dramatic, and it's definitely been the most difficult to process after the fact. I feel lucky to have these kinds of experiences at all, though, so I really can't complain.

Cool Practicing your intuition

In my experience, intuition and worry are two distinctly different feeling, even though it is common to feel both at once. Most of the time you worry, it is likely to just be worry, accompanied of many thoughts of things to be worried about. Intuition is often a much quieter feeling (except for the very rare times its screaming at you) and is often overshadowed by other feelings.

If you want to tune into your psychic intuition, I think its best to practice listening for it in situations that won't cause strong feelings. In my high school years, I'd occasionally get a deck of cards and turn the card over one by one, paying attention to what numbers, suits and or colour comes to mind. Sometimes a certain card would pop up clearly in my head, and sure enough that card was the next one turned. By the time I turned 18, this practice gave me a slight edge at the blackjack table

I've found that if I experienced both at the same time, I'd feel the psychic intuition first, followed by the worry. That actually makes sense logically as well, since the intuition is more likely to trigger the worry rather than the other way around. I also find that I'm worried about a specific thing happening, instead of range of possibilities.

Regards,
From Shannan

I've found I predict pointless garbage.
Like, colors and numbers and tidbits of a conversation that come to play the next day, that seem meaningless.

I've predicted things, big things, like my father's death but I see it more as God prepared me for the upcoming event so I could "finish my business" with him.

Had I just blabbed and petitioned in prayer to him and not slowed down to listen, I wouldn't have known.
But that's another post on the types of prayers or possibly on trauma.

Smile

Hi Shannon, thanks for the suggestion, I may give that a go, I play poker with my friends on a regular basis so I might be a good place to start!

Hey kitty, again that's an interesting way of looking at it. I want to find out though how I can develop that part of me.

Thanks for all your comments though.
