In an effort to gain more insight I have recently begun keeping track of my dreams. One thing I’ve noticed so far, and even before I started keeping track is that I am rarely in my dreams. Maybe one out of ten times I actually see myself or feel that I am a character in the dream. The rest of the times I see other people, places or things. I’m concerned about this absence. Makes me feel like I’m not fully engaged in life, or not living to my potential or something like that. Any insights appreciated.

I remember reading a book back in the 80's. I think it was called the Breakthru Dream. There was a quiz in the book and one of the questions asked if you see yourself in your dreams and if you are in 1st or 3rd person view. I do remember reading the analysis part and it said that you want to strive to be in a 1st person view in your dreams. I don't know why it was important, but there was a list of things to aspire to. Remembering dreams Dream in color Dream in 1st person Become lucid etc. |

You'd be surprised how many people dream in black and white. It's not a progressive list, per se. I read the book more than 20 years ago so it's hard to remember what the quiz was about, but I remember when taking the test I was pretty close to being at the highest level of dreaming, if such a think can be ranked even. And I wanted to get all the way to the highest end, which included programming dreams and lucid dreaming at will. It might be a kick to see if I can find the book again and read it now as an adult. |

I've never really payed attention to the color of my dreams, interesting. Maybe because it's like you're acustomed to it, like how water doesn't have a taste, yes it does it tastes like water. Or how you think your house doesn't smell, but somebody new comes in can tell. Anyways, I dream almost every night, I have no Idea why I haven't been logging it. Well I do, it takes me forever to get out of bed and by the time I do I ahve to get ready etc.
