How to overcome a bad magic experience?

When I was 10 or 11 years old I got a beginning magic book because I was getting interested in the paranormal (right next to it was a beginning psychic work book but I didn't choose that one), I liked the idea that I could cast spells like a wizard and that sounded cool. I started to read the stuff in the book and it gave a brief history on it and then got into an exercise in controlling energy (basically an energy ball). I started to do it over and over again, imagining the energy moving through my hands and then things took a turn for the worst. I found that I couldn't turn it off, energy kept leaking out of my fingers and I didn't know how to stop it (never said anything about that in the book).

I also didn't know anything about calling on angels or spirit guides or anything like that, so I basically had no one to turn to. It was a pretty scary experience for me when I was that young (but despite that, I went into psychic experiences when I became a teenager, mostly because it wasn't magic), I eventually completely stopped all the energy from leaking out of me (after two years) but I left it unresolved. I never do any energy work at all nor do I even have anything to do with magic, so my question is this, how do I resolve an issue like this? It's not really causing any real problems but I rather overcome this bad experience than leave it to linger.

You might want to reframe the experience. It wasn't "bad" except that you judge it as bad; you were not "leaking" energy; you were generating and sharing energy.

The good news is that you are not diminished by spilling your energy all over the universe. You can spill and spill and spill your energy every day, like Niagara Falls, and what you're doing is creating something wonderful for the world and for yourself. You are a supreme example of delightful abundance in the world. You have plenty of power to practice any sort of energy manipulation you desire to experiment with -- you are an overflowing fountain of bright golden light, and you can boldly flow, letting go of any fear of being diminished.

Hmm, I wonder if something similar happened to me.

Over the last couple of years I couldn't stand summer because I got so overheated. Maybe I was locked in winter mode, generating heat to counter cold weather.

Last summer I decided to learn how to be in hot weather, and I succeded a bit too good. This winter I've been freezing, so I'm stuck in summer mode now...

I guess it was more of me labeling it as bad than anything else. You are right though, I didn't feel that I lacked energy at any point during that whole situation, I just didn't like the sensation of that energy leaving my body (or drawing energy from the earth through my feet). That's an incredible synchronicity, that quote really helped me! I guess it's now possible for me to make peace with what happened and realize it was due to lack of experience in such things.
