Default Sedona, Arizona

To those of you that have been to Sedona, Arizona or know a lot about it: I've read here that the area has energy vortexes that make picking up spiritual messages easier. I am taking a trip there next week, and I'm interested in any tips, advice, and recommendations you have.

Thanks in advance!

I went there a few weeks back. Unfortunately my trip was very disorganized and unplanned. Also I went with a cousin who is not into spirituality... so that was a mistake. The best advise I can give is plan your trip well... so its a good thing you are asking here.

I think you would need at least two full days (perhaps more?) to experience the vortexes in Sedona. Also I would book the hotel room in advance. Anyway, I hope you have a great trip and get some nice messages!

Steve and I love Sedona. Very spiritual place, yes.

We've blogged about some of our experiences there. Do a search on "Sedona" on Steve's blog and see what you find.

I love the airport vortex, that's my favorite.

We also recommend good vegan eats at D'Lish in town there.

Default Seeing Vortices

Hi. I have never been to Sedona but have visited other vortex sites around the globe.

They are not easy to see, although you can VERY easily feel the difference in the air. You just KNOW that something special is there in that place, even if you can't put your finger on WHAT.

Tips on seeing vortexes: Sit in one place, preferably an open plain or a high hill.

Gaze into the open air in front of you and unfocus your eyes. (Like trying to see one of those Third Eye stereo-gram pictures.)

Begin to look for little sparkles or flashes in the air, like dust, only moving with more intention than that...shimmery like when you gaze through the air above a camp fire.

If you can succeed in this, you are well on your way. This is elemental Earth energy.

Now, keeping that unfocused view on the energy, point your gaze slightly upward, as if looking from the space on your forehead between your eyebrows.

Let the energy become a cloud, or a fog and, when looking outward from between your eyebrows, you can SOMETIMES see that the energy is swirling in a cone (or vortex) out from you and into an invisible point in the distance.

Some people can feel the vacuum-like pull of this vortex while they are seeing it.

If you don't see them at first don't worry, I had visited a vortex site 6 times before I could finally see one. Just keep trying.

For more description on vortices see this post.

Have fun!

Blessings,

It's completely awesome.

I went back in November and did a thread on it in this forum. I was fortunate to go when it was a nice week in November and has a great time.

If you're going, I can recommend three things that my intuition picked up during my stay there:

1. You need a parking permit to park near the vortex sites. Get the weekly pass - it will save you $8 if you decide to go to the Cathedral Rock vortex by the conventional way of the park operated by the national forestry service. (I do recommend going in that way too.) You have to pick it up in town at the information center.

2. Don't try to fit in all the vortexes in one day - take two or three and just try to relax there. If you can meditate there, so much the better. Don't get frustrated if you can't get anything, as some were better than others. YMMV.

3. Eat at Picazzo's. It's a pizza place on 89A in West Sedona that serves the best pizza I've ever had. No lie.

Thanks for the tips and responses!

My husband and I arrived in Cottonwood early this morning (cheaper hotels here than in Sedona) and plan to sleep a lot today. We'll have Mon-Thurs available for hiking, meditating, exploring, taking photos, etc, so there's plenty of time to take things slowly.

I have no predictions about what I'll experience. Sometimes when I think I have no idea what I'm doing, I get a lot of information at the spiritual level. Sometimes when I think I know how to do things, I get very little. Perhaps there's a lesson here... <grin>
