I am so excited!! Last night before i went to bed i was reading up on this stuff so much that apparently i made it happen! I was laying in bed, thinking about it,and i told myself i was going to attempt it. I laid awake longer than usual because i was so alert. Finally,i felt the vibrations all over my body and i heard the buzzing! I knew it was happening and i got so excited i woke back up LOL So i laid there about another half hour til it happened again. This time,i relaxed, and thought to myself,'ok,try to move' and i FELT my "body" moving but i knew my physical body was laying still! I kinda turned over and lifted up a little, yet when i woke up,my body was still where it originally was! So i know i did something. After a while longer,it happened again and this time i felt like i was floating sideways or upside down and kinda spinning in a circle. I tried to float directly up but i woke up instead. Apparently this takes more practice LOL Also during some of my "moments" of vibrating and buzzing,i was lucid dreaming,i was aware i was dreaming, but they only lasted 3-5 seconds and i woke up. One dream however, was more like a real dream yet i was half lucid during it,kinda controlling it but not all the way. That was nice, since i was able to dream of a certain person i wanted to dream about and do certain things with him LOL Anyway,I just had to tell you guys about it and see if anyone had any suggestions on how to not keep waking up all the time, and how to actually get your body UP and OUT THERE rather than just moving around on or above the bed. Also it would help if i was able to see,but does anyone ever see during these? I mean if youre still in your bedroom,at night, most likely it will still be dark so you wouldnt see anything anyway, but, can't our astral bodies "see" without light, somehow? |

That's really cool! I've had the vibrating and buzzing a lot lately, but I always used to be afraid of it so the last couple nights I've been fighting it. After reading the posts on this forum though, I think it's time to give in to this because it's been happening to me for years. I just never knew what it was. I really want to experience another OBE. (I had one when I was 10.) Someone suggested to me a way to "get out" of your physical body. You envision a rope and picture yourself climbing up the rope until you're completely out. It sounds like a really cool way to condition yourself to be able to get out of your body. Lemme know if it works & good luck!!

yeah, its nothing to be afraid of...although i dont know if this actually happens EVERY night when you fall asleep,it doesnt make any sense why some of us will feel it,and then only some of the time. Last night i didnt have anything at all happen, nothing. I wish there was a way to make it happen for certain, anytime you wanted. I will do that rope trick next time i have the chance, hopefully i remember it |

Can I ask you guys a kind of personal question? Are you physically fit, and what are your diets like currently? I've been reading a book on astral projection and it says that you will get the best results if you do not have excess body fat and generally eat mostly fruits and vegetables. They mentioned that eating no meat at all was even better. I've tried to AP many times but I can't seem to get to the buzzing stage (it might just be because of my tinnitus though). I've felt some vibrations though. I just wanted to see if what the book says is true. I'm currently a little overweight, but I've lost almost 35 pounds in the last 3 months and am working towards becoming physically fit again. The book also mentions staggered breathing, but I don't think this is necessary. Thanks! |

^Yeah I hear you on that one. It's difficult to find the time to juggle all of those books at once! Thanks for the information, RockChick. The staggered breathing basically involves taking a deep breath and then when you exhale, you do it in 2 spurts, then you take another deep breath and you exhale in 4 short spurts. After that you go back to 2 and repeat the process. Now they mentioned that you can go 3 and 6 if you really get advanced at it and even 4 & 8 if you want to get crazy. I think you can stagger your breathing in motion as well. I don't remember exactly, because it was like 6 months ago when I read it. I assume the whole idea behind staggered breathing is that it keeps your concentration on the breathing and helps to clear your mind of any other random thoughts. I've just never read anywhere else that this is necessary. Amazon.com: Practical Guide to Astral Projection: Melita Denning,Osborne Phillips: Books This is the book I read. I think I'm going to read it again when I get the time and get my fitness back up to par. Has anyone else read this book? It goes into great detail with preparing your chakras and staggering breathing, but from most people's experiences that I've read, nobody mentions the need to do this. I've also heard that it's possible for someone who has become advanced at AP to "yank" you out of your body (it's not harmful), and after that doing it yourself becomes a lot easier. Does anyone on here do this regularly? I'd be really interested in trying that! Last edited by Barcs; 03-21-2008 at 10:19 PM. |

Jumping in for a second here: I don't believe you have to be physically fit to astral travel. When I first started, I was very thin and all that, but today I have a lot of extra weight on me and I can still do it. Maybe because I'm experienced, I don't know. But I wouldn't let that issue weigh you down (pun intended! Secondly, you can gently coax someone out of their body. yes, this is possible. I should do a blog entry about this so everyone can benefit. Stay tuned! |

It's funny that some people say you should be physically fit for this to happen. The most noticeable times for me are when I have been feeling 'out of sorts' either emotionally or physically, especially if I try and sleep outside of my normal times i.e. afternoon. Then I get the train rush sound in my head, the vibrations, and occasionally the dream paralysis scenario, but that's a WHOLE other story! The weirdest was when I woke up thinking my cats had fallen asleep across my ankles, which they never do, but then coiled around them, then I was scooped up under my shoulders and felt myself lifted up. This was the night I had a very emotional break-up with a boyfriend. Unfortunately for me I can never make it past my bedroom ceiling, I seem to get stuck some how, probably trapped by my own fear about what is happening. Although one very strange experience I remember is seeming to fall from the ceiling, and waking up the next day with very sore shoulders, and broken slats on my bed. Odd. |
