Default My 13 year old sister sees our dead family members

Firstly I'd like to apologise, I am new to forums and hope I explain myself properly.
Secondly I'd like to say HI!

Now done to the business end of things.
My little sister is 13 as described in the title. For the last year she has been having what she calls visions of a few family members and one very close friend. My sister never met at least one of the family members but has heard us speak of him, however not in much detail.
She has been bringing messages out of her visions for us. Not all of these have been comforting messages either. And at least 2 have been things that were said in the past from this uncle to my mother and are nothing that anyone except my mother could have known about.
When she has these visions she goes a little pale, and she looks around with a complete vacant glare in her eyes, it appears she sees nothing of what is in front of her. They never lasted long, however now they seem to be more frequent and stronger. She can recall every minute detail from what she saw.

There is no doubt in my or my mothers minds that this is happening for her.

My sister has asked me to try to find out how to develope this further as she is "worried my visions will leave me and I won't be able to help our living family get the messages that our dead family NEED us to have."

I was wondering if anyone had any idea of a name for the "visions" she is having? Also of any literature that might help us with her request?

I and my family would be very greatful for any input or help we receive.

Thank you

She is probably a budding young medium. Some mediums can see spirits with their physical eyes while others see spirits in their mind's eye only. Many mediums get this vacant stare while tuning in to the other side. That happens to me too. Only in my case it's like i'm having a waking dream, and in the case of people who see with their physical eyes it's like unfocusing from the rest of the world to tune in to the spirit world.

If she wants to develop her ability, I would suggest she start reading books by mediums like John Edward, John Holland, James Van Praagh, and Gordon Smith. That will get her started. And there's a book called "So You Want To Be A Medium" that can probably help her too (forget the author's name).

Cool

Hi. It is very kind of you to share this personal information with us.

I agree with Erin that your sister is most likely a natural medium.

As long as the "visions" do not frighten her then she should continue to try and develop these abilities.

At her age it is important that she feel positive about what is happening. Give her lots of love and support so that she knows she has acceptance from those that she loves.

In the teenage years it can be tempting, in our search for self-identity, to share our gifts and abilities with friends and even simple acquaintances, especially other teenagers.

Though this may at first lead to popularity for her, it can end in being ostracized, feeling ashamed and the bottling up or plain denial of our abilities.

Indeed, do help her to find resources that she can read about these abilities, but also try and help her to see the wisdom of developing her gift privately, until she is older and more confident in this gift that she has.

I do have a few articles on my own experiences as a channel and Erin has a brief list of books....maybe she can begin with these for now and branch out with more reading and experimentation in the future.

Brightest Blessings to You Both,

I don't mean to be a killjoy but it is possible that this a medical condition. I can't be sure, but might it be some sort of hallucination triggered by abnormal brain functioning?

Don't get me wrong, I do believe in mediums and psychic abilities, but it can be dangerous and fatal to simply assume something like this is budding mediumship and blatantly ignore the medical implications.

CAT scan anyone?

Default Thank You

Thank You very much for the information. I'm sure it will be very helpful.
In reply to Akashic Librarian, She has not had a cat scan but has seen a doctor and although he sent her to see a shrink he believes there isn't anything wrong. The shrink seen her twice said she was a little depressed (mainly beacause she is a little overweight) and said that she was fine also. Thank you for the suggestion anyway.
Also in reply to Veranadine, My sister doesn't have a lot of self esteem at the moment and believes that her friends would probably just pick on her so she is reluctant to tell her peers.
Again Thank you very much for all the information. I'll send her the books off asap.

Hi!

Wow! Thats so cool. I am a psychic too (i see spirits, auras). The best way for her to progress is by practising more and more.

"Don't use it, you lose it"

So get her to keep practising. Also another way of saying "I had another vision", she could say "I had a visit, guest, etc"

Hope i helped you

Good luck! And I hope your sister progressess

Go to www.mindsoulspirit for advice on how to best keep this gift alive. Read the mission statement and some of the student experiences. These people all have ways to develop this type of ability in helpful good ways.

If you as her family can treat her properly, i.e. that she is okay the way she is, and that she is loved the way she is, and that everything is good and what it is for a reason, then she will have the strong roots she needs.

Support, love, and care cannot be measured or their importance sufficiently stated in words.
