Hi! This is quite a lengthy post, I thank anyone who would venture into this and read the whole thing, but this is as short as I could make it! I did a meditation that I read somewhere here in another post, it involved relaxing in meditation, setting the intention to meet my higher self, and going up an elevator 21 flights, and then walking up 21 flights of stairs. I tried it about 5 other times but with no success, but this time, I cleansed the area and myself and my mind before doing this meditation, and I was able to focus with ease!!!!!! When the elevator doors opened up, I saw a beautiful grassy field with even more beautiful flowers, and the sun was shining, making everything even more bright. Its kinda coincidental that I get this scene because it is the scene I get when I try this every time. Getting up the elevator is usually no problem for me, I usually fall asleep before I get any further after this. Usually what happens then is that I am riding a horse up to a beautiful castle (that is mine), with huge castle walls, but I have never ridden a horse....so the first few times I tried it, I was holding on for DEAR LIFE with everything in me. This time, the horse ride was a little fuzzy, I think I may have been starting to lose consciousness here, but I regained it. The next thing I knew I was off the horse and walking towards a set of stairs (maybe in the castle or not I'm not very sure, it could have been in or outside), but right before I got to the set of stairs, I was given something....not by anything in particular, it just kind of appeared in my hand. It was a big circular crystal glass with brass frame, so shiny that it was almost like a mirror. I looked in the glass, and I saw the scene with the castle and the grass and the flowers, and the picture was just as pretty as the scene was in front of me. Then I set to walk up the stairs, it was a standalone set of stairs, and I could see brightness all around me (I can't remember exactly what I saw going up the stairs, but everything was 'bright and beautiful.' I got up to the last set and I was in this beautiful outdoor room high up in the sky. The sunlight was shining in and I could still see trees from the windows. Now I was wearing all white garb, the floors of the room was white, and there was a big white pad on the floor in the middle of the room. I immediately felt the presence of beauty and protection. I sat down on the white pad, and opened my heart to let protection and anything good that wanted to come in in. I knew a spirit was with me. I asked "are you my highe.." and before I even got the entire question out, I heard "YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!" in a BIG BOOMY DEEP voice. This is funny, because I have used that voice jokingly with my friends often. It was the same deep voice. It was very funny to hear that voice. I asked "who are y..." and (again before I got the question out), I heard "IIII AAAAM YOOOU!" So then I knew it had to be my higher self (or whoever), but the boomy voice was quite comical, because I have used it before. I then asked some personal questions, in which I got swift and sound advice. He said I was here to learn happiness (I have usually always remained happy and smiley and hyper in the face of adversity, mostly everyone I know knows I am like that), order (organizationally), refinement (another quality of mine, I don't like to be dirty, trashy in my demeanor, and like to appear as a neat and refined person), and brainpower (always been called 'very intelligent' 'gifted' 'genius' things like that, so this made sense, since sometimes I do not always use the noggin up there when my head isn't buried in books). He also said that I will be "wonderful" (can't really explain this one in words, however). The two final messages I got is the reason for this post. He said that he cannot help me if I do not keep my eyes and heart towards him. I must keep focused on my higher self in order to receive help. The second message was that the world is inlaid with special messages and signs for me that I HAVE TO PICK UP ON, because it is very important for my development. And then I woke up, I didn't go down the stairs or elevator or anything, I just came back to this life. The next day (last night), I think I may have received a sign. I was at a friends house, he had a bunch of people over, and everyone's hanging out and having a good time. I was walking to a couch to sit down, and behind a chair I saw a set of blank CD's in a case, and I thought "Hey! I have that same set, he got it from Staples), and for some reason, I could see my friend at Staples shopping and getting these CD's. and I thought "maybe this is a sign!" I look up at my friend, and he has a cigarette dangling from his mouth. He looks straight at me, pulls a zippo out of his pocket, lit it like lightning, and had it back in his pocket in less than 3 seconds. I might as well have been clapping like a child at a circus, because I like crafted zippo lighters, and I like when people do tricks with them. So I didn't say anything, but my friend is still looking at me and laughing. I thought that was weird, so I asked him "was that a zippo?" and he says "yes, its my roommates, he got it from China" I asked him to look at it, and he gave it to me, and it was an ancient Chinese warrior on a horse on a grassy hill. I was just knocked back into the scene of me riding the horse on the grassy area, and could not stop looking at it, completely zoned out, for about 5 minutes. Assumptions aside, how would I go about interpreting something like this, or even knowing if this is a "sign" or not???? How is it that people receive signs and things of the like? (thanks again for reading!!) |

Yep. That's a sign. Your Benefactor's just letting you know that what you experienced was real and isn't going away just because you're not meditating at the moment. Keep your eyes, ears, nose, mouth, etc. open. Signs come in more ways than you can imagine. And trust it when it happens. Believe me; if you want to find a "Logical reason" for something, you will. Doesn't mean it wasn't a "Wink from the Universe" though. |

| Wow, you know, I was just thinking again about that session I had, and thinking exactly of what the room looked like, it looked kind of like a Chinese meditation room....you know, all feng-shui-ed out and stuff...so from the zippo was a reference to the horse and rider on the grass, and the Rider being Chinese, just like in my meditation. I am quite blown away by this. Its funny, I was so far away from a meditative state when I saw that lighter, maybe you are right, Mato! Thanks!

Definitely a sign. You did a great job connecting with your higher self. I have noticed in readings that sometimes when I connect with spirit guides they are really funny/comical. I have been sent some really funny metaphors too, like a tree with eyes looking all around, or a woman hanging on to a tree limb for dear life and this really comical look on her face. Sometimes I just have to chuckle. Or when the ear of corn jumped down off its stalk and picked up a brief case and walked out of the corn field. Funny stuff. Some times people's guides and higher selves are very stoic and logical like a Vulcan. Sometimes very loose and hippie like. It's great meeting so many different energies. |

Here's one for you that shows just how Spirit really winks at you: About six months ago, my Benefactor (aka Higher Self) chided me for not asking good questions during my journeys. It went something like this: ME: "Where are we not aware?" BENEFACTOR: "What? What the hell is that? That's not a question. Hell, that's not even a proper sentence. You can do better than than that. Try again." ME: (Nonplussed) "Um... ok... well, let's see... 'Where are we not aware of problems that exist?" BENEFACTOR: (completely resigned to my apparant idiocy - shoulders drooped, head hung and shaking side-to-side) "You are so NOT AWARE that I don't even know how to start to answer that question. No.. wait...you know what? DUBAI! There... you have no idea the problems that are present in Dubai." So I get it right? Questions are more important than answers and GOOD questions are most essential. Thank you. Lesson learned. Moving on... Now, fast-forward about six weeks. I'm at work - at the time I worked at a major defense contractor's corporate training facility - and in our morning meeting the General Manager tells us that in two days we're really going to have to be on our feet because there's a vitally important, highly situated ambassador coming to tour our facility with his entourage. Any guesses what country this Ambassador's from? Uh huh... Dubai. Ok... maybe just a coincidence right? Maybe. Let's roll with that for a little bit. So the tour goes off without a hitch, but for one of the two days the entourage is on site, I'm off site facilitating a training session on another campus. When I come back, the Executive Chef pulls me aside and says, "Hey, this lady from Dubai was looking for you." "What did she want??" "She says she knows a family member of yours over there. She gave me her card and asked that you call her back when you get the chance." "???" Well, first things first... I DON'T have any family living in Dubai and secondly, who the hell was this woman? The only possible explanation I could come up with was my little sister. Little 'sis is a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Baghdad at the time. This lady was a governmental official, my sister's in the Green Zone.... Ok.. THAT must be it. Whew... scared me for a minute. So, I call my sister, "Hey kiddo..." "That's Lieutenant Kiddo to you buddy!" "Yeah, yeah, save the oorah for someone who didn't change your diapers. Listen, something wierd happened the other day. Do you know anyone from the Dubai Office of Foriegn Relations?" "Dubai? Hmmm... Nope. Sure don't." "Ok. What about this name?" I read her the name and title from the business card. "Nope. No idea. Anything else? I'm supposed to be requistioning HEAP rounds for the brigade's tanks..." "No...that's it. So, you still filling out ammo reqs with the Hello Kitty pen? (story for another time)" Alright, so here I was back at square one. So I decide to call the woman. Guess what? Number doesn't exist. No, I'm serious... that was the message I got from the operator when I called. "What do you mean it doesn't exist??" I say. "It's right here on this business card!" "Sir, I'm not sure what business card you have, nor do I care. The number you are requesting does not exist. Is there anything else I can help you with?" So, you see, when our Benefactors and Guides bring us Knowledge and information, sometimes - and understand, just because they're Spiritual Beings doesn't mean they don't have a sense of humor - they feel the need to reinforce what they say, or provide you with some evidence that you're not just making all this stuff up in your head. I think your lighter's the same thing. |

I get it now!! I guess it would be a little hard to tell without a physical confirmation whether or not something like this was fabricated...I actually thought maybe it was, except that the answers I got were very wise. Seeing the lighter removed all doubt. I am very amazed at the whole thing. Thanks Mato and Erin for your replies! |

Down = inward Up = outward I do something similar in my prayers and journeys. If I want to connect with my Allies, I go inward by taking myself into a cave that I follow "down" into their world. If I am trying to connect to my Benefactor (aka Higher Self) I go all "Star Trek" and journey "outwards". I consider the Elevator/Stairs excercise to be the same type of mental/spiritual preparation for the same goals.

This is an important distinction. If you want to connect with higher vibration/frequency beings like your higher self and spiriti guides it is extremely helpful to visualize yourself going up instead of down. Going down is good if you want to achieve sleep, introspection, talk to your ego, talk to yourself, etc. |

At that point, I've reached a place of ultimate Quiet and can step into the Nagual or what the Buddhists call Ohm or the Void. But if the elevator thing works for you, then don't stop just 'cause we call it something different or experience things in a way you don't. Connecting to Spirit is very personal and what works for one does not always work for others.

I'm not much for the elevator/stairs methods actually. I prefer watching the breath or using a hypnotic reverse countdown method ("25, 24, 23, 22 ....") or progressive muscular relaxation. I pretty much can tell when I'm "there" - I will get lots of colours shimmering in my head. But today's the first time I've heard about going "upwards" to meet higher beings ....... I will give this a shot. |

On the Monroe Institute's tapes, he has you going up. My favorite is walking from the sea/lake up a hill path that gets narrower and steeper and goes up and up and up eventually to a big door.
