Hearing your name

Hello

For several years now, but now with increasing frequency, I hear my name called, but when I turn round, there is no one who has called me. These voices can be male or female. The interesting thing is that for the last couple of years I have lived in a non-English speaking country, so when people call me who know me, they have a very distinctive accent, but the voices I hear are very English. Sometimes they are a whisper, sometimes they are a shout, and sometimes they are so forceful that I call every member of my family to make sure they are OK.

Occasionally I feel they are a sign to show me that someone is around me, or looking after me, but other times they scare me in their intensity. Anyone else had anything like this, or could offer me some suggestions in what they may be, or how I could find out more.

Hi Canarybird! Welcome to the forum.

Do you have any experience with communicating with your spirit guides? I am not typically clairaudient but have had some instances of clearly hearing my name spoken aloud such as you describe. These days I take it as a "Hey, listen up!" attention-getter from my guides.

Perhaps your guides wish to communicate with you?

I get this all the time as well. Sometimes, I swear I can hear someone talking, but there's no-one there. Doesn't happen very often, usually when I'm absorbed in something and the noise breaks my attention. It would be nice to think it's our guides reaching out.

I had that for years too. I used to hear voices calling my name in my head. At that time I was stubbornly stuck in a situation that wasn't good for me. After I started listening to myself and changing that, I didn't hear the voices anymore, so I guess that was some kind of warning.

I think your higher self is trying to tell you something. Is there an area in your life you're not that happy with?

Thank you for your welcomes and comments. It's strange, but since I posted I haven't heard anyone calling my name! Perhaps all that was needed was some acknowledgement. I have been working on some intention manifestation recently, and maybe they were simply messages telling me that I have been heard. And as I am currently sitting in my new dream apartment overlooking the sea, through the most bizarre sequence of events, I am under no doubt that I have been heard!
