Question Gender of Energy?

Hi folks, I've got a question. What is male or female energy? Isn't energy just energy? How can it have a gender, and how do you notice that??

I've always thought about "male" and "female" energy the same way I do about male and female electrical plugs, which is to say, not much.

And not as corresponding to identity or value as a man or woman.

If you've ever read the book, "Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus" you can get the idea between "male" energy and "female" energy.

Personally, I don't think that Spirit has gender per se. However, certain aspects of energy can manifest themselves that in the Tonal world result in a Male or Female body.

It's a matter of cause and effect.

We tend to think that men and women have different energies because they are men and women. When in fact, men and women ARE men or women because of the different aspects of Spirit from which they come.

Therefore certain energies will appear to us to have "male" or "female" attributes because that has always been our experience of them, or they normally reside in a male or femal body.

Regard the fact that homosexuals and other transgendered individuals are considered special or different in practically every culture. Sometimes they're hated, sometimes they're treated as sacred - just depends on the culture. Either way, they're "special". The exception proves the rule.

If i had to ascribe a gender to my energy it would be that Destruction energy was male and creation energy was female. But thats just probably a social stereotype *shrugs*

Before I answer your questions, here's some info:

I can actually sense the difference between male and female energy using my... err... well, it's sort of an internal interpreting mechanism. I've described it before like this:

There seem to be two layers to reality. First, there's the physical one we can move around in that seems to have space and time, or rather, present moment expansion. Second, there's another one that seems to be independent of space and time. We seem to exist on both levels (I get the feeling that the external world is a projection of the second level I mentioned), and I can look at anything in the physical world and get a "reading" from the second level, but I can also transcend space and time and "project" my awareness on this inner level to get a read on things that aren't in my immediate physical surroundings.

Confused yet? I am, so lets get back on topic...

Interestingly, some women I come into contact with have what I'd describe as a very "feminine" energy, while others have a much more "masculine" energy. And their personality and general external appearance seems to always -- always -- match the energy.

In comparison to women, most males feel very closed off to me, energy-wise. It's as if they're very heavily rooted in the physical, with no "spiritual" energy in them. Women seem far more connected internally. Men who are connected internally seem to feel similar to what women feel like -- there's a lightness to their energy -- but it's slightly more... well, it's like looking at a woman in a beautiful dress and a man in a good looking suit. Both look good, but for different reasons. They have different qualities to them.

I'm not so good that you could tell me that there's a person behind an unopened door and I could tell you whether they are male and female, but I think with a bit of practice I could.

Usually, though, I'm more interested in the energetic atmosphere of my environment rather then the specifics of the people in it. Usually you can detect a lot more about the people by sensing the environment. Eg. If you walk into a room that feels thick with negativity, if you look closer, you'll probably find the person who's generating it.

So to answer your questions:

What is male or female energy? Isn't energy just energy?

I'd think of it this way:

Everything in the physical reality is made out of matter, but certain configurations of matter lead to certain characteristics. At the core, male and female energy is made out of the same base "element", but each is composed differently.

How can it have a gender, and how do you notice that?

Boy, teaching other people how to sense energy is hard. There's a good chance you already know how to do it, you're just either (A) not noticing it, (B) not consciously aware you have the ability, and/or (C) are somehow blocked off to it.

I'd suggest observing the different people in your life and seeing if you have any awareness of them on a non-physical level. Ie. What do you feel that doesn't really feel like it's located within your body?

If you feel nothing, try to imagine consciously projecting some awareness onto them, so you can "get a read". Also, be mindful that there's a difference between interpretation and internal reaction. Ie. I can look at something I don't like and feel an internal reaction -- perhaps some resistance or negativity -- but if I projected my awareness onto it, I'd get a different read, one that's more so about the actual characteristics of the object/environment and not my internal reactions.

Do note that this method may or may not work for you. I get the feeling that people interpret things differently (ie. I'm primarily able to interpret things and can sense things on many different levels). Just experiment with the main intention of raising your awareness.

How I actually developed this ability was somewhat random and spontaneous. First I experimented with manipulating my own energy by simply forming an energy ball in my hand (harder then you'd think), then, after more practice with stuff like that, I noticed that I had an awareness of not only my own energy, but also the energy around me.

I think that feminine energy is like intimacy, caring, security, (inward movement from source) and masculine enrgy is like freedom, expansion, or even separation (outward movement from source).

Here is what I read in a book by Ulli Springet, about Soulmate Relationships :

Quote:
Feminine energy is like the sky. It is open and can embrace many things and people. There is a stillness in feminine energy that is not passivity but receptivity and responsiveness. The core of feminity is surrender - a volontary process of letting go that is higly pleasurable. Surrender has nothing to do with submission, which is suppression in a self-denying way. [...]
The ability to let go makes feminine women more talented on the spiritual path, because surrender is more important than anything else if you want to come closer to your Higher Counsciousness.
Quote:
Masculine energy is best described by the image of a rocket. The rocket is very active and it flies through the sky with a great sense of determination. Masculine energy is aim-oriented. THe rocket doesn't fly for pleasure but has a purpose that it wants to accomplish at all costs. Masculine men are therefore single minded; they can put their full energy behind their goals, which they are able to see through without being distracted a great deal.
Of course these energies have to be balanced in order to blossom fully.
For instance, it is easy to see the damage of unbalanced male energy when we look at the violent world of people who wants to conquer everything.

Thanks for your answers all!

Bruce, that's excellent! Tell me, how do you perceive me, as male or female energy??

I didn't ask how to feel energy, I asked about how to feel male/female energy. I can feel energy of places and people, usually I can feel if they are low or high in energy, if it flows or is blocked, if they're healthy or not, such things. I can often feel their feelings (which is energy too) a little bit outside of my body, and how permeable they are. I can also sense if energy flows more from me to them or from them to me or both or none of the above, and I can conscioulsy make energy flow inside of myself or to them. I'm not good at it (yet) because I'm not trained in doing it (yet), but I do feel it.

Of course I get many different feelings from people, nobody feels exactly like someone else, some are softer and some very sharp and so on, but I never thought of it in terms of gender, and I could not say "that's male and this is female". That's why I was asking.

The reason why I'm thinking so much about this these days is that I've always been a bit confused about my gender, I must admit. Many girls tell me that I'm very masculine. In my dreams I usually see myself as a guy, even when I have sex (with a woman). When I visualize my higher self while meditating, it's a guy. I asked Ben if I'm a man or a woman and he answered that despite of my name, I'm a man, or have male energy. Sometimes I just forget that I'm a woman and think that I have big muscles and hairy arms.

All this confuses me a bit. I would be perfectly fine with being a lesbian, but it's not about being sexually attracted to women (I'm definitely attracted to men), it's about being a man. I'm happy to be a woman though, I would never want to change my gender. So wtf?

All men I ask tell me they perceive me as a woman, but I suspect they're just blinded by my boobs

Maybe I'm just making a mountain out of a molehill.

Energy is energy. But energy carries information with it. I think this has to do with what the energy has been around, or the intention that has been focused on the energy. For example, what is the difference between sick energy and light, vibrant energy? There certainly seems to be a difference. Maybe the male or female manifestation of the soul leaves its signature on the energy as well.

There are also supposedly yin and yang energies. Sun and moon energies. I do not know how this fits into the equation.

Well, I'd say that I'm percieving the energy of your post, which may have an indirect link to you, but still isn't specifically you.

But anyway, I checked and I could feel what you were talking about. You definitely "feel" female to me, but there's a... well, it's strange. It's as if I can sense an energy within an energy.

It's not like the women I've met who have a very masculine energy. That energy feels like it's part of the whole package, whereas yours feels like there's some sort of duality there, as if within your "female" energy there are attributes of masculinity, but the energy as a whole isn't masculine -- it feels too light and feminine for that, as if you're either young or you have a reasonable degree of awareness/presence/connection.

Note: To what degree my interpretation is biased, I don't know. Also, I'm not what I'd call psychic, but I can do most of that stuff to some degree if I want to. So don't interpret my description as if it came from an expert psychic, because it sure didn't.

You're right, you did. No more writing posts for me when it's late.

Asking me how to feel male/female energy is kind of like asking me how I can see the difference between a male and a female -- to me it's pretty obvious.

If you can already sense energy, my advice would be to just relax and not try so hard with the gender thing. Don't be "looking" for something, as I find that can bias your interpretation.

It's very likely that the energy you sense originally "is" the gender energy you're looking for, you just expect it to be something else.

You're right in that people all feel differently (at least, I agree with you). Overall, I think all women and men have access to both gender polarities of energy, some just cultivate it more then others. Eg. I certainly wouldn't describe my energy as feminine, but it has a lot more lightness in it then other guys I know. I'm clearly bias here, but it definitely says a lot about my nature -- I'm generally nothing like any guys I know, but then again, I'm not much like anybody I know, heh. I think my social peer group is dragging behind my personal development.

Edit: I'll add that, in my experience, awareness has a lot to do with how well you can sense energy. When you are less focused on thought, internal incongruencies, etc, you literally have more awareness to sense and interpret things, kind of like it's easier to notice details with your eyes if you don't have 2 people talking to you at once and objects passing through your field of vision. You certainly "see" what is in front of you, but you may not be consciously aware of the detail. And sensing is very much a conscious practice.

(Yes, I know that's a typical "guy" thing to say. Couldn't resist. )

Seriously though, I'm not sure what to make of your gender confusion issue.

Ultimately, I'd look at it this way: Do you feel like you desire a more feminine energy, are you simply looking for clarity, or are you perhaps dealing with some sort of self acceptance issues?

Perhaps clarify your desires and proceed from there. From experience, I know it's very difficult to go about finding a solution when you try to get something by taking action without knowing what you want. All of the action, I find, usually arises out of some sort of resistance, and the universe tends to be somewhat uncooperative in sending me the nice leads I usually get when I'm not resistant.

Hi Bruce, and thank you very very much for your answer! You said many wise things.

I'm not that interested in identifying male and female energy, actually. I'm fond of energy stuff and I'd like to develop my abilities in that area. But in order to heal people. I'd like to learn energy healing and to be able to better feel which of their chakras are clogged, if their energy is blocked somewhere, how healthy they are, and so on. I'm not that interested in labeling the energy I sense as "male" or "female". All I want is making sure that it flows correctly.

The reason why I asked how to do it is that I wanted to know if my own energy is male or female. Yes, this question really bothers me. Do I want to have more female energy? No, why should I? I'm fine. Do I have some self-acceptance issues? Well, maybe some I'm not aware of. The main reason is that I'm very confused and I'd just like to know.

A simple example: yesterday I went to the dentist. My dentist is a very pretty young woman and her assistant was sweet too. While I was lying there I thought about how nice it is to have such two pretty young women taking care of me. That's a perfectly normal thought, for a woman too. What disturbs me is that in this moment, I felt like I had a man's body. I felt much stronger and taller than I am, I could swear that I was about 1m80 (instead of 1m58). I also felt like I was 35-40 years old instead of 29. I have no clue how it feels to be a man (although I'm somehow convinced that I do know it, even though I cannot possibly know it), and still in that moment I definitely felt like a guy, it was absolutely clear to me that I was a guy. This feeling went away after a few seconds, I felt normal again and thought "Ah, right, I'm a girl!".

I feel a bit ridiculous now to be so concerned about such a tiny thing. It's really no biggie. You're right, I'm having some resistance I guess it's fear I'm having. I find it weird and disturbing. And a bit scary. It confuses me a lot. Feels just like switching realities from time to time and I cannot control it.

Is this something you used to do before this whole male-female-energy discussion came to being?

I remember you saying earlier in another thread that you really enjoy putting yourself into someone else' shoe and seeing the world as they would see it. Since you've done it a lot, you're much more talented at doing it then the average person. Is it possible that your concerns may lead you to doing it more?

If it's a bit scary, then it's not "no biggie". I'd say it's definitely something to explore and understand.

Rose,
Have you ever had a Psychic reading done? I would be interested to know if someone may have picked up on a "rider".

Sometimes - or so I've heard - a spirit may co-inhabit your body with you. I've been told that sometimes, a spirit may not want or need to have a full "life" as such but may need to be Tonal for just a short time or for one very specific purpose or experience.

In those instances, they can coexist within a receptive person. That receptivity is usually not conscious, but is more of an open spiritual door.

Again, only from what I've heard and I have no proof or other confirmation of this, but this is also how "posession" works. Only in the case of posession, the spirit has malicious intent or is not satisfied with staying unobtrusive in the background.

It would be interesting to see if that may be the case or if there may be some other reason for your experience.

Hi Rose

Thanks for sharing your questions with us - this is a really interesting topic to explore, and I hope that you find some answers (or perhaps more questions to think about?!) in the discussion that will help you with your experience.

I've never consciously labelled people's energy as masculine or feminine, but thinking about it now, I guess I can distinguish the two in people. It's a bit difficult to express what are feelings/impressions in words, but I guess it is roughly a softness/hardness thing for me. In a way, what I feel mirrors some stereotypical male/female characteristics, but the "energy signature" of someone doesn't always match their physical gender. Some people display both, each one coming to the fore in different situations.

I can feel both inside of me. I would say that my baseline energy is female oriented, but there are times when I consciously change the energy I am giving out so that it feels more masculine. It is a definite shift that I have to make, and I do it when I am in a situation where I feel that a different energy would be more effective.

To me, from your posts and pictures, I feel you as both, but with masculine dominant at this time. Perhaps this is your natural baseline, but perhaps also you are drawing more on the masculine components of energy to deal with your current life situation. Maybe also for you, the shift is not as conscious as it is for me.

This is a truly engaging discussion. I sense that I view energy as genderless or, perhaps a combination of different ones to form a cohesive whole. At the same time, upon reflection, I also begin to understand why judgment and preconceptions prompt human beings to categorize things. People have grown accustomed to labels. Is it time to evolve and change?

Human experiences associate certain behavior traits with genders. For example, if you have had strong male mentors, you may assume that strong energy is male. However, if you have had strong or aggressive female mentors, then you may associate strong energy with the female gender. In the end, why is it such a frequent thing to put things into categories? Maybe the answer to this tendency is "because human beings can" and its also another opportunity to learn (if we choose to remain open-minded to that.)

Liara,
I think labels are nothing more than categories for separating and processing experience.

That categorization is essential for the mind to work. If we did not set certain expectations for the world around us we would not be able to function in any way.

Can you imagine being surprised everytime you took a breath? Or wondering what would happen every single time you dropped something?

We must take in information and make decisions and assumptions based on that experience in order to move forward.

Where we fall down, is that we get hung up on our assumptions- especially around people. We take what "is" and make it "mean" something.

For example, if I get up at the same time every morning every day of my life and walk out the front door to get the paper from the front walk and just as I push the door open, a certain car goes down the street, what's to keep me from thinking, "By pushing the door open, I cause this car to go down the street?"

In this case, what "is" is that I do something and something else happens. Period. No cause, no effect.

Now, if we only lived there, as I said we'd never grow, learn or progress. We have to make some connections between cause and effect. That connection is "labels."

Sometimes we make wrong connections; like the car. But through experience we learn that if we turn the doorknob and push the door will open.

It's a balancing act between being appreciative of this experience we call life and not allowing the wonderful to become mundane and actually doing something with it.

Liara, I guess we use labels for the sake of efficiency. Giving things a name makes it easier to talk about it. If I say "male energy" you'll all know what I mean, that's easier than to explain for ten minutes "you know, this sharp, edgy kind of feeling..."

I've been paying attention to this male/female energy thing in the last days, and I think that I can feel it in people, but I never called it feminine and masculine. I can see men with strong "feminine" energy and women with loads of "masculine" energy, and everybody's a mix anyway, so this doesn't make much sense for me.

To be honest, I find it sexist and don't see the point. It's just stereotypes. We should invent more gender neutral names!

Thanks for taking the time and giving me some feedback Mags I get what you're saying. Your idea of consciously shifting is very interesting too!

Maybe it's just that I think I must be a guy to feel the way I do. The more people tell me that I have male energy, the more I'm accepting that I can be a real woman and feel the way I do, that in fact my physical gender is not relevant.

This reading with Ben was my first experience with psychics. I'm a total noob when it comes to spirits and paranormal phenomenons. I don't know much about it, but I find it very interesting.

Being possessed by a guy, that would be a lot of fun! I hope it's the case

Yes, that's true. I love it, that's why I want to be a ghostwriter. I do play being someone else, real persons or people who exist only in my imagination, of both genders. But there's a huge difference: when I play being them, I consciously choose to, and I'm free to stop at any time. It's just a game. Even when I'm crying because of something happening to them purely in my head (which happens), I know perfectly well that it's not really me.

But with this thing it's different, I can't choose anything, it just happens to me. And in these moments I'm really convinced that it IS me, that I am really a guy. That's not the same!

But yeah, you gave me a great idea, you all. I'm letting go of my resistance. When it happens to me next time, I'll just say "oh well, let's switch and enjoy being a guy for a change!"

Your energy feels very feminine to me, very feminine. So feminine, that when you asked the Q, I was a bit shocked.

One possibility is that you could be recalling a lifetime that you resonnate with this time around; i.e. past lives intruding on present. We all have been both genders in other lives; we are more than we think, IMHO. So you still have those memories somewhere; not readily accessible in the here and now, but still in one way you still are that person, as much as you are who you are in this lifetime. For those who have not experienced such things, I'm sure this sounds really out there. . . it is what it is, what can I say.

I've had sporadic glimpses of memories of lifetimes when I was male, and some female. . . . for me the memories will sometimes come up when I meet someone I've had a relationship with before, and there is a context existing for the relationship in this lifetime.

It can be a bit disorienting.

Just one possibility. Blessings from Belle
