2 Questions Regarding Astral Projection

1) Is it possible to astral project while fully asleep (as in, sort of like sleep-walking, but rather like sleep-projecting)? One of my friends was once asleep and awoke in the middle of the night... Though he was "awake", he was still in an altered state of mind (right before waking, where you're aware of what's going on but not really quite awake yet), and his eyes were closed. He apparently saw me sitting on his chair in his room with my head lolled over like I was asleep, but when he fully opened his eyes and awoke, I was gone. This seems similar to when the physical body is in the meditative sort of state where it can see through its eyelids. What do you suppose this was?

2) I read that calling on something to help you without knowing exactly what you're calling can attract negative entities.. so if you specifically think "I want to meet my spirit guide," or some other such specific request, can this still happen? i.e. Can a thing come along merely posing as a spirit guide? Is it true that the spirit guide will show up on its own without needing to be called?

There are three states: lucid, astral, and dreaming that you're astral. In some cases people think they are having an out of body experience when they are really just dreaming that they are. Sometimes when I'm astral I will look at other people in bed and I can see people's astral bodies awake inside their physical ones, sometimes their head is out and looking at me while they're physical head is still asleep.

Regarding calling entities to you... In my early years where I was a bad ass with an astral sword I would indeed attract negative stuff to me along with the good. Today I don't think that would happen as my vibration is so different. So I think it depends on what you expect and what your vibration is.

I believe there are different states of consciousness as well as different realms or dimensions which we can travel in.
I've had that odd experience of 'seeing through my eyelids'. I put this down to my 'psychic eyes' waking up as my body goes into deep relaxation. This is a similar experience to when I am awake but seeing other images at the same time such as during a reading.
Some dreams are internal - they may be lucid or non-lucid. During these dreams your spirit stays in the body.
Other dreams are external - again lucid or non-lucid. In these the spirit leaves the body and travels in other dimensions. Sometimes we can travel within realms that are very close to this one and sensitive people can perceive us on our travels like your friend did. It is possible by the way, that your friend travelled to you and saw the image of you sleeping overlaid on his own scenery - hard to tell which is which.

In my experience, otherworldly beings are pretty much like us in that there are good and bad and indifferent. I think there are entities that are very advanced and have an incredible vibe and others that make me want to run in the opposite direction. I do think your state of mind can influence what you encounter.
I never actively called Guides - they have always been there. There are some that have changed over the years and some that have stayed with me. I guess that to truly decide whether a Guide is a Guide is to meditate on the information you receive from it. Go with your gut instincts.
If you are concerned about meeting negatives entities it may affect your travels. I would suggest rather than concentrating on the possible baddies, build up your protection rituals or create a safe haven within the astral world for yourself.

When you encounter a spirit entity, ask, "Do you work toward my highest good?" Any being who answers with a clear, prompt "Yes," is worth listening to. If it hesitates or answers otherwise, I send away immediately.
