Hello and Happy New year! I am a Sagittarian and they say we are late bloomers.....thank goodness because I am now 40 and I feel like my understanding of life and my role in it are only just beginning. God willing I will have time to now accomplish everything I am supposed to in this lifetime! Religion has not answered my questions of existence but now I feel like I have been pointed in the right direction and my cup overflows with excitement and the true potential of the rest of my time here. I have been researching the theories that we are here to perfect ourselves and experience for God and for the betterment of humanity. I have attempted to discuss my journey with my family but because of their strong faith in their Christian religion they think these ideas are bizarre, can not be proved and that if I believe in things like metaphysics, astrology, psychics, reincarnation, spirit guides, etc. I will spend eternity in hell (funny because I feel I have spent the majority of my life in hell already and now I feel I have been given these gifts of direction and understanding). I am not yet educated enough to debate these topics with anyone but I am reading the bible so that I can speak intelligently in discussing/defending my spiritual journey because I feel it is the right journey for me. All I can really state right now is that based on my research thus far, it seems logical that we are here to perfect ourselves and experience for God. I need your assistance because I truly have no one to discuss this wonderful time in my life with. What I am hoping to learn from you is an understanding of the difference between a prophet, as stated in the bible, and a psychic and proof that reincarnation exists in hopes to open the mind of my family and friends to the ideas discussed above. If anyone would please point me in the right direction to answer these questions I would greatly appreciate it as again, I am overwhelmed! I would like to learn as much as I can, especially, so that I can help children have a happier and easier life while fulfilling their journey here at this time and by the way, I am in a hurry! Thank you |

I think that everyone should follow their own path and not need to supply any proof for others to change. (That's just my thought) I take beliefs that work for me and use them in my life. The beliefs that I no longer want, I dispose of.... It doesn't matter what others believe. Stay true to yourself. Good luck with your journey! P.S. A simple exercise that will get you more in touch with yourself is meditation. I suggest learning how to meditate properly and then taking 20 minutes or so daily for meditation. Quote:

Congratulations on finding direction and understanding! Although I believe there are references to reincarnation in the bible, (something about some people wondering if Christ was one of the prophets reborn), I wouldn't bother with trying to convince anyone in a standard Christian religion of that point. Why? Because you are not going to change their minds. Explore your own beliefs, try new ideas, find what works for you, and live that. Be your wonderful self. But don't try to convince them that you're right. In fact, you may come across as more confident in your beliefs if you make no attempts to persuade them. |

To be on this path is to be spiritually awakened. Most people are not spiritually awakened, and there is no use in trying to convert them. This is a path that people must discover on their own and in a way that is comfortable for them. I understand the excitement that you feel about being on this new path, but just do what's best for you, and if the people you love come around, that's great. But don't force it. -Brian |

I've heard that early Christians believed in reincarnation and the the church changed that. Maybe to scare people to be more moral - if you had another chance then people thought they could be amoral. I think reincarnation is like a hell and the church was trying to say reincarnation or being saved from hell is possible when you are one with the holy spirit (or rather, you don't have to reincarnate (be in hell) again since you are not attached to the muck of the world). Of coarse those ideas are not going to fit into either Christianity or Hinduism or Buddhism but sort of brings them together with a little bit of interrptation (not too much) of what the different doctrines are regarding reincarnation and hell. |

I'll give some terms here - you'll see that this speaks some truth. --> see below for further comments on your post. ----- >1 Corinthians 14 1Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, >especially the gift of prophecy. [...] 3 [...] everyone who prophesies >speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort. > >Romans 12 >6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift >is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his[2] faith. >[[2] 12:6 Or in agreement with the] > >Revelation 19 >9Then the angel said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are invited to >the wedding supper of the Lamb!' " And he added, "These are the true words >of God." >10At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "Do not do >it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the >testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of >prophecy." ---------------------------- Did you read the gospel of Thomas? There is much about reincarnation (well, yes, the church did put aside the gospel of Thomas as well as other things that did not end up in the bible.) And reincarnation: for me, this term is bound to a certain concept of linearity of time, which cannot exist, as time is part of creation, anyway! so, we will never fully understand, (except we attain a state of real enlightenment on earth!, which is extremely rare; and if then, we understand, we will be still not able to explain it to others in a way that they understand!) So, to sum up: listen to your own "inner teacher", and live in a way that you are able to spread the love of the Source. It is the only way that others may profit of your understandings.

But I'm wondering what you're doing, if you would like to, tell me in a PM. Perhaps I will some day open a thread in the "spiritual" forum about meditation.
