Default Lucid dream lying and mocking me

To my surprise, I woke up this morning from a dream in which I knew I was dreaming and I was trying to get information in the dream. It's a surprise, because it's never happened before and I haven't been trying to have a lucid dream (recently, I'm lucky if I can remember even the shadow of a dream). Maybe it wasn't entirely lucid, because there are vague parts.

What does it mean that I was being laughed at and mocked in my dream? The dream went like this (and was abnormally unabstract and coherent for my dreams):

I became aware that I was in a certain Muslim country and I was wearing Western-style clothes, a close-fitting white shirt and nice dress pants basically, and my hair was down and long, soft-looking and just brushed and I saw my reflection in a window and I thought “Oh my God, I can’t go out like this! I have to cover my hair” And then I thought to myself “No, no, it’s ok, this is just a dream.” And I said “It is?” And I answered “Yes, it’s just a dream”. So...

I went out of the building I was in and I felt great. There were short, overweight Arabic women walking on the sidewalks of the town wearing their jalebas and scarves draped loosely over their heads etc. It was a commonplace, true-to-life scene. My first inclination was to shed some of my clothes and dance around freely in the street . Then I got a more productive idea and thought “Hey, now’s my chance to find out some secret information that my subconscious is hiding from me.” I had learned about how Erin talked to her subconscious in a dream and I had wanted to do the same thing. So, in one of the main streets of the town, a small circle of scruffy-looking (that figures) men gathered around me. I spoke directly to one of them. I explained to him that this was a dream and it was my dream. Honestly, I don’t remember that I asked him any questions, but he started giving me answers, and without my asking, his answers were about a person I know, a friend, who lives in the country I was in in my dream. Right now all I can remember was that he told me my friend is not doing well and that he’ll be going to ____ (a town I used to live in in a different country-he spoke the actual name of the town). I said “He will?!?” And he said yes. Then he said ___ was the "key". I have no recollection of what ___ is and I'm not even sure he even told me what the key was at all nor what it was the key to...

I knew he was jerking me around with nonsense and the other men were snickering at me because I told them it was my dream. So…I stepped back from the circle and I began to speak loudly in the middle of my dream to my subconscious, in the middle of the street, to summon it up and as I was doing so, all the men around me were laughing at me. They were laughing at me because I told them it was my dream and I was talking up to the sky to summon my subconscious. As I finished "summoning" my subconscious, I closed my eyes, bowed my head and waited for my subconscious, but as I was about to open my eyes, hoping to see a representative of my subconscious before me, I woke up.

Why were they all laughing at me in my own lucid dream? And why did that scruffy old bum-man lie to me about my friend and not tell me "the key" or even what it was for? [Note: It is an indisputable fact that my friend is not and cannot go to that town where the man told me he would be going.] I had desperately wanted my friend to be in that town a while back, when I was there. It seems like my "subconscious" is taunting me. Why?

And what does it take for your subconscious to get through some useful information instead of lies and mocking (or symbols that I don't ever have a snowball's chance in hell of ever figuring out)?

There are several stages to a lucid dream.

First, becoming lucid. Doesn't mean the characters are going to behave differently than how they're programmed to behave. If you had not been lucid, they still would have been mocking you.

Second, taking control of the dream content. Most people become lucid but cannot change the direction their dream is heading. In the beginning I had horrible things happening to me in my lucid dreams. YOu think I'd choose that? No, but I didnt' know how to change it. So once you master becoming lucid then you work on changing the dream content to your liking.

Third step is programming a dream outright, before you go to sleep, so at the first moment of lucidity or perhaps even going into the dream from the get go, you get the dream you want.

I thought that since it was lucid, something like that wouldn't happen. I thought in a lucid dream, it would be more true and less ambiguous, less tainted by enigmatic subconcious symbols.

I also would not have done what I did in the dream if I had not be aware that I was dreaming, so I can't imagine how it would have gone if I hadn't realized it was a dream. Next time, though, I'm going to take the "dancing-half-naked-in-the-street" option, because I think it would have been a lot more fun than getting laughed at by a bunch of scruffy men.

I don't want a specific dream. I just wish I could talk directly to my subconscious like you did and ask questions on certain subjects.

Anyway, I was pleased to have a lucid dream-and so unexpectedly . It was still kind of fun even though it didn't go how I wanted it to.

It's hard to control dream characters sometimes. They seem to have a mind of their own. I'm glad you had the experience though.

Default i know what you mean

i hate being in my own world and not being able to control, but then again, i also love it, because then when something is bad, you will have something to work on and to explore. i cant seem to fly in my dreams, lucid or not, but that just makes me wanna work on it. remember, without conflict, youve got no stories to tell.
