i want to know what the hindu religion is all about. i just read that they think that life is just a filter that determines whos meant to go on, and that sounds pretty good.but is that true? and can anyone else tell me more?

hm, have a look here ATMA JYOTI ASHRAM - Meditation, Monastic Life, Spiritual Writings, and More I just gave the link on another thread. What is true that's only you yourself that can give you an answer. All religions are just human ways to turn to God, or the Spirit, or the Source of All... The way to do it, you have to find it in yourself. (You'll find it there, the Way.) But you'll find perhaps good stuff on that site mentioned above. |

wow, nice find acting_like_Godot! I had read "autobiography of a yogi" where the author describes his experiences witnessing many of these ascetics perform those siddhis, but I had not researched what the siddhis were called. I'm pretty sure there are people who have those superpowers, but I have heard many times that by the time a person is so advanced on the road to spirituality that he attains those powers, he finds that he doesn't feel the need to use or flaunt them. Instead he is too preoccupied loving God and to get enlightenment and liberation (moksha). As far as LoA is concerned, I think hinduism in general advocates against cultivating desires as it is a never ending cycle that never really gives peace, whereas the LoA implies anything you desire will be yours, so desire as much as you want. However Hinduism and the LoA both point out that the universe is a system that responds to you as an individual, and that causality is one of it's main rules. |

Download your FREE eBook on Meditation (still the same site I mentioned earlier in this thread...) Ok, it's not an ancient text but a contemporary one, but that does not take away the Truth that is to be found there!!!! (sorry for those "!" but I really found so tremendous truths there... I think the last sentence I quoted from it is the most important one... | ||
