Default Finally had a lucid dream...

I actually had 2 or 3 lucid dreams before, but this one I had more control in, however I still did not have as much control as I would have liked.

The past few days I started reading more about lucid dreams, the ones I had before happened randomly and I always wanted to have a real full lucid dream, I just never tried enough. I went to sleep at midnight and woke up at 6 am, just out of pure convenience, I wasn't even trying to get a lucid dream. So I remember reading about WBTB on wikipedia and decided to give it a shot. I turned on the computer and read about lucid dreaming for an hour and then went back to bad at 7 am, it was hard to fall asleep maybe took like 20-30 mins and I kept thinking about lucid dreaming and checking for reality checks. Unfortunately I woke up at 11am, 10 hours total of sleep seems too much, I was hoping to not sleep in late today. So here is what I remember of my dream:

I was at my mom's house, and my brother was paying her a visit there too. The first thing I remember is looking at my hands and seeing I have 3 fingers, I moved my hand around and looked behind it to make sure the fingers weren't just out of sight. This was one lucidity trigger, another one that only happened once is looking at the mirror and seeing the reflection being kind of wavy and incorrect. Another one was paired with the hand, after I saw I have 3 fingers I pulled one and it got longer, then when I let go of it returned to normal size.

Now whenever one of these triggers activated, I was still calm but I had some urge to say "wow I am dreaming" because I read about people saying that on lucid dream FAQs, as soon as I said that I got a huge rush of excitement coupled with a very fast falling sensation. This happened a few times, I think what happened was that it knocked me out back into normal dream, and then I became lucid again, and then got knocked out again, but eventually the last time I remember I was able to not get too excited and remained lucid.

Now finally lucid I was still excited to try out all the things , for some reason the first thing I did was do 1+1=2 and 2+2=4 to check my logic. I was happy that I could add and then tried to fly. I wasn't sure how to go about it, so I looked down at my feet and started jumping, I could jump pretty high but still couldn't fly, no matter how hard I jumped. So then I jumped and in mid air
shifted my body position from vertical to horizontal, I didn't fall and stayed in the air. I was able to fly around the house exactly as if all the air turned to water and I was swimming.

I was very excited and proud about being able to fly so I wanted to show my mom and brother but I immediately had some thoughts about them not being real since this is a dream. The thought was really strong, it was something like "this dream is my playground, but I am alone in here". So I flew around the house and it was empty, I'm pretty sure that thought removed all people in my dream. That's the last I remember.
Throughout the dream I did not feel omnipotent, I felt a great deal of difficulty in managing my thoughts so that the illusion would not fade.

Anyone have any tips for controlling or inducing more lucid dreams? One thing is that I usually sleep 8 hours a day, I only tried WBTB and then MILD because I was lucky to automatically wake up after 6. Setting up an alarm clock for 6 and then waking for an hour and then going back to sleep is too much work, especially if it makes me wake up at 11! Is that normal by the way, to oversleep that much?

firstly well done for successfully becoming lucid.

I know I should be making my own thread but I was wondering if you could give me some pointers on becoming lucid?

I can recall my dreams, I recall 9 dreams within the past 2 nights of sleep, but the problem is i never become aware that I am dreaming.
all sorts of things happen, i walk into a room, back out and back in and its a different room, I can fly slightly, I don't think I must be dreaming I think wow I can fly this is great, I go to university even though i am not even studying.

I have had a few lucid dreams in the past but this was before I even knew it was called a lucid dream, what always triggered lucidity was me being on holiday, and then thinking "im not on holiday any more im back home already" but even then i was not aware of the full potential of lucid dreams I just used to keep dreaming and play along

i would appreciate any tips you have for me, thanks
peace

A lucid dream is one in which you become aware that you are dreaming while still inside the dream. Search my blog for it and you'll find lots of articles.

Lightbulb i know good stuff.

well i recently had a lucid dream, and i didnt have to do a reality check or anything, but i might have, mmm. anyways, i think that if you meditate and creative visualize than that will work out your creative skills and make lucidity in dreams more possible. thats what i did, and it worked, but the only minor set back is that even when your wide awke and moving about throuought youre normal day, you might feel like you are dreaming, but trust me, i remember when i was sure that i was dreaming, but i wasnt, and lets just say that i did some things that were pretty weird, nothing like what youre thinking! [get your mind out of the gutar]! but anyways, its not that bad, just make sure that your dreaming when you think you are, before you do something stupid. like try to fly. anyways. also try not to take any sedatives ar medicine unless you have too, i think that messes with youre head and temporarily weakens the mind. no matter what the doctors tell you. they just want youre money.
