I had someone die very recent. I was wondering how long you might have to wait before you could get some kind of contact from them. And is there anything that I could do to raise the likely hood of contact. TIA freddy

here is something that happened to me..... although I did not seek out my dad, this is what happened , (I dug this up from older threads)

Here is an experience I had which I believe kicked the whole 6th sense into being for me, at least I do not recall every having any powers of any sort prior to this, it was my dads death.....( this was 15 yrs ago)

We all were standing over my dads grave, I did take his death quite hard, as he was my last living parent, my mother died of pancriatic cancer when she was 47, I was 17 at the time, and my sister died exactly one year before my mothers death, my sister died at 16 (suicide)

so losing my dad was quite rough, I was standing over the grave and the thought came to mind "I am an orphan to the world", and it felt like my spirit broke, I felt an overwhelming sadness, that i have never experienced before.
And as soon as i had that thought I had this impressed upon my mind (crystal clear mental voice) "I will not leave you as an orphan"..... it was so clear that i remember looking arround to see who was talking to me... we left the graveyard and while driving home I heard again in my mind "pray"
when i got home I was emotionally exausted, I plopped down in the chair in the living room and I heard again "pray"

I did, I barely got the words out of my mouth and fell asleep, first I prayed "God if you are there please take care of my dad"....

I fell asleep, and in my dream I saw a ball of light, it was bright white and glowing, I remember squinting to get a closer look, this ball of luminous white got closer and closer, and as it did it got bigger and bigger, but it did not hurt my eyes to look at it....... Then when it was right in front of me, this light dissipated into thousands of brilliant little shards, and behind it was my dad standing there, from his shoulders upward.... he smile and winked at me..

The thing is, winking was something dad use to do to me all the time when I was a little girl, ( I am 48 btw), this wink was his way of saying I told you so, or you can always trust me... he use to do this often as his way of letting me know i could trust him...

then as quick as he appeard from behind the ball of light , he slowly started to break up to dissipate, and as he did this, I could smell his cologne and feel his whisker stubble on my chin....... I was instantly filled with a JOY! and power I have never felt before........ it was the most powerful feeling , i have ever experienced, the peace and the love was out of this world..... and my stomache did a roller coaster turn, it was all i could do to catch my breathe, because it effected my physcial , body, it was awsome!!!!!

I woke up , bolted upright, noticed that i had only been asleep for a couple of mins....... and I knew that i knew my dad was ok........... here is the thing!! to this day, that peace and joy and love has not left me......... it really effected me profoundly

ever since this experience 15 yrs ago, i have been able to see things in my dreams and waking hours ..... I don't understand it all...... but now i just go with it , and the good thing is I have met others that do not think i am crazy or even if they do... they have shared the same experiences -so at least i feel i fit in :-)

I think it all depends, to be quite honest... time is different (non-existent) in the spiritual world. There, everything operates according to states (planes of existence or different energy vibrations) rather than linear time.

Mediums are usually able to contact people who have crossed over who are still on a plane fairly close to the earthly one. After physical death, many spirits will raise their vibration and move onto higher planes (yip, personal development continues on the other side ) and then they become less easy to contact. Whether you get through kind of depends on the skill of the medium and the energy state of the spirit being contacted.

How long it takes (in earthly terms) for spirits to move to higher planes of existence depends entirely on the spirit themselves and what they choose to do.

How do you know this? Do you have some insight that the rest of humanity does not have?

Contact between you and your deceased loved one can happen right away in the form of them coming to you in a dream or sending a sign like smelling their perfume or suddenly seeing their favorite flower in an odd place or a photo falling off the wall, etc. Their ability to communicate with the living will depend on their energy and how well they are able to control it.

A medium could pick up on someone recently deceased even by just a few hours. There's no guarantee that she/he will though. There are several factors that appear to determine if a spirit will come through with a medium. But there is a good liklihood.

in my own personal experience reading for people when someone dies from murder, accident, suicide they do tend to want contact so they can explain what happened and even assist in their own investigation.

And it's also true that spirits that passed on a long time ago, especially from natural causes, tend to be fully moved on and not reachable, though it still happens often. It's just that in my experience I connect most often with people who are recently deceased or who died under unusual circumstances.

Thanks to all that responded, Gives me thoughts to think about.
So If thing happen after the person passed days or weeks latter that would be there way of comming through to me in some way. Or is it my imagination trying to make pieces fit a puzzle.
On another note, dose a person that has passed have issues as far as new relation ships. Freddy

My answer to Freddy was based not only my my own experiences and those of family members who have also developed their psychic abilities, but also on extensive reading in the areas of spirituality and metaphysics.

I have no way to prove to you that this is "right" or "the way it is", nor would I wish to - it is my belief and what I and others have experienced (which matches descriptions found in many mystical texts).

Hi dhudoba, I understand , i took my fathers passing hard as well, he was my last living parent as i had lost my mom when i was 15 , so i understand....

maybe he just wanted to let you know he was with you, knowing you were having a difficult time he wanted you to know he was with you so he showed you!!

...I don't see it is contact. Immediately after my father passed on: I took on his boldness and my courage increased dramatically. This has had substantial benefit in my relationships with every one.

Since my mum passed 2 years ago I often see bright lights to the side of me and have the strong feeling there is someone with me. I would like to think it is my mum looking after me and letting me know she is with me always.

Anyone got advice for me.
