Squirrel Spirit Guide?

I don't really know where to post this - Paranormal? Spirituality? Erin's forum? Ah, well, we'll start here.

In this thread I related dreaming of a squirrel after setting an intention to meet my *lesser* spirit guides. I was quite amused to consider having a squirrel for a guide. But, it seems there may be some validity to it, as Erin's comments and further research suggest Squirrel's role is to encourage preparing for change, trust, focus on the task at hand, playfulness, cheerfulness, energy, foresight...all issues of my attention at present.

That dream was just a few days ago.

Sunday morning, as i was just waking up and waiting for the coffee to brew, I stood gazing absentmindedly out my kitchen window towards the wooded creek bordering my property. A movement caught my eye and when I focused I saw an Albino Squirrel. There are squirrels aplenty around here but in 13 years I've never seen an albino squirrel. Heck, I've never seen an albino squirrel anywhere. It took me a couple of eye-rubbing moments to convince myself I was really awake and not dreaming that I'd gotten out of bed and started the coffee.

I watched it for nearly five minutes, then turned away momentarily to fetch my camera. When I returned to the window, the white squirrel had vanished. I've been (somewhat obsessively) looking for it since, but it has not reappeard.

Sighting something so rare strikes me as meaningful and important, especially given my dream just a couple of days prior, but I'm not sure of what. I'd love to hear your thoughts - perhaps they willl help jostle my awareness.

You can't see what you don't have. And you saw something unique, mystical, gorgeous, and temporary, didn't you. What other qualities would you associate with the Magic Albino Squirrel?

An inability to keep out of the baby powder?

When I was about 13 or 14 I was playing basketball at the foot of our driveway, and this tornado of leaves started circling and swirling around on the road, probably a hundred and fifty feet away. I dropped the basketball and watched as this leaf tornado slowly gathered strength and started coming towards me, eventually growing to about five feet tall. It meandered all the way down our (long) driveway until it was right in front of me, and then around me, and then it just stayed there, circling around with me in the middle, for nearly a minute. And then it was just gone, the leaves simply fell to the ground and scattered like nothing had even happened, and I walked into the house, blown away, trying to figure out what I had just experienced.

When American Beauty came out years later that damn paper bag scene made me just start sobbing uncontrollably in the theater because it touched so closely on how I had felt that day. Life was so different since it had happened but that feeling hadn't changed a bit.

Anyway, I don't know why, your squirrel story reminded me of that. Sounds to me like a sign to not worry, that you're being looked after.
