Default Picking up a message in Sedona

This past Sunday morning, my very first thought was not, "It's a wonderful morning!" but "I need to visit Sedona, AZ." This is unusual but not completely unprecedented. For me, vacations are my opportunities to make great leaps in my personal development. The last time this happened to me was August last year when I made my way to Vegas to meet Erin Pavlina for a reading that was life-changing.

I have a reservation for a hotel and I'm going to be in Sedona next week for three days and four nights. I have a gut feeling that I'm being sent there to receive a message. My hunch is that I will receive it in one of the vortexes (not my spelling) that are around. My intent is to make it to each of the largest ones and hope for the best, unless the message comes through in another medium or someone directs me to the right vortex!

Having said that, I have the following questions:

1. Has anyone been to Sedona and have picked up messages? I know Erin and Steve have.
2. How does one exactly "pick up" the message? Did it come to you as a voice, or an image, or something else?
3. Is there any way that I can make myself more open to messages while I am there? My intuition is nowhere near as good as Erin's, but I was able to pick up on her "telephone call" to let me know she was in the hotel I was staying at. I know I use my intuition more than a good number of people.

Thanks in advance!

Steve and I had varying successes depending on which vortex we were in. I love the airport vortex (go early, hardly any parking and first come first served). For me, it was like whispers even while I was getting settled and then once I got settled on my rock and opened myself up to meditate they just hit me with some past life stuff right away. Images, feelings, information, just downloaded at me really fast. Steve had more luck at one or two of the other locations (I forget which but he'll remember).

I have some friends going to Sedona and I told Steve we should just put the kids in the car and go this weekend. Sedona is calling me too!

Sedona is awesome! I always feel blessed to have it right in my backyard, since I live in Phoenix. It's where I go on personal retreats by myself a couple of times a year.

Last time, I went to Cathedral rock - a "feminine" vortex. It was amazing and beautiful, I hiked up, laid down on the rocks and just soaked it up.

I don't know about specific "messages" but it is always transformation to go there. Set your intent and go with an open heart - it will be totally worth it.

My favorite two vortexes were Cathedral Rock, which can be reached by a beatiful 10-15 minute walk along a creek under a canopy of trees, and Boynton Canyon, reachable after an uphill hike with an amazing view.

You can get free vortex maps anywhere or even find them online.

To "get your message," sit quietly, breathe deeply, silence your inner mind, and just listen for as long as it takes. Shut off your external perceptions and tune into your inner senses.

My experience at every vortex was unique, but it was always successful and unlike other meditations I've done anywhere else.

The airport vortex was the hardest for me -- I sat for 10 minutes picking up absolutely nothing. Then images began to come through very gradually at first, eventually picking up speed and unfolding into a dream-like sequence of instructions. I remember that particular message was a very powerful one for me last time I was there.

At other vortexes like Boynton Canyon, I started picking up impressions even before I got there.

Typical the messages I picked up would take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes to unfold before I sensed they were done. Erin was almost always done before me.

I loved Sedona, and I'm glad it's only a 4-hour drive from Vegas. They have a nice vegan restaurant there too (D'Lish) as well as a raw restaurant.

Thanks for your replies! I'll keep all of this in mind.

I arrived in Sedona a couple of hours ago and it's a beautiful town from what I could see of it. I recommend coming in from Prescott on the 89A if you have the nerves to do so.

I did a little work with my intuition on the drive here and I'm glad I did so. I can detail this more if people wish to hear about it, but my main concern now is to rest up for the vortex trips. I'll keep everyone informed!

Default Sedona - Day 1

I just finalized my notes from my first day in Sedona.

My intuition work is coming along nicely. I had a hunch to go to Picazzo's in the dark last night but I decided against it. Then I drove by this morning and noticed the window stickers saying "gluten-free pizza". (For the record, I have Celiac disease.) This made my day, and I found out that they even have a slice and salad lunch special. I have to make it back there for a meal this week!

The other intuitive thought was to get a weekly "Red Rock Pass" instead of the daily ones for each day I am out here. It was a great call as if you go to the Cathedral Rock vortex via Crescent Moon Park, it's $8 for a day use pass - except if you have a weekly or yearly Red Rock Pass!

I went to two vortices (vortexes?) today - Cathedral Rock and Boynton Canyon. Cathedral Rock felt very positive and uplifting energy-wise. I felt like I was "topping off" my energy, which felt really cool. I left feeling really relaxed and positive. Boynton Canyon was great, but it had a different vibe - the energy was more mellow and grounded, and I was able to tap into it almost instantaneously when I was at the vortex site.

At neither point did I get what I perceived to be the "message"; however, I did pick up on a couple of things. At Cathedral Rock, I got the image of lots of traffic signs and driving in my car in the desert holding hands with a woman wearing red fingernails. I also received a message to "talk to meditation woman", but I can't seem to figure out exactly who that means. One person it could be is Sarah McLean, who has a meditation practice here in Sedona that I picked up a door hanger at dinner from. As for Boynton Canyon, I noticed that at one point my lungs filled up with this great energy for a couple of moments, and since that point I've noticed my cough from last week's flu has gone down considerably. The only image I got there was that of my mother grinning like a Cheshire cat and the map image of Cathedral Rock that I'm using.

What I have noticed so far is that a) I'm not a good visualizer and I'm not sure this is temporary, b) I'm picking up on basic energies of the area and sometimes other people, even if they are walking around me from a decent distance, and c) my intuition has a tendency of coming across as a kinesthetic or mental/telepathic entity that I get a chill over instead of a flash of clairvoyance, mental picture or some aural key. I also may be having trouble interpreting yes/no answers from my intuition and getting into a good "meditative" state.

At this point, I'm going to open up and ask for guidance from the world and Higher Self. Any suggestions are welcome!

Default Sedona - Day 2

My second full day in Sedona was a semi-mulligan but it turned out to be pretty cool in the afternoon.

I ended up sleeping really late this morning as I've been battling the postnasal drip. I took Nyquil and it left me to sleep until 11 this morning. Knowing that there didn't seem to be too much to do today, I hiked up to the Airport vortex and sat down. I was able to get relaxed, but that's about it - there was nothing going on there for me. Perhaps it was the iced tea and caffeine that did me in. After 15 minutes, I hiked back to the hotel.

In the late afternoon I went to "uptown" Sedona. I didn't find a lot of interesting things for me there, except that something told me to go "off the main street". I ended up on Jordan Street at a place called the Peace Place, where I found a couple of women were talking. We started talking about Reiki, when she said, "Have you seen the meditation center we have?"

Whoa.

It's a full Reiki place of healing, and I didn't catch a lot of other stuff but she allowed me to meditate there as long as I needed to. With that in mind, I took one of the low chairs and went with it. I was grounded nearly instantly and found a great, powerful energy there. It grounded me to the core and I felt that the caffeine and normal jitters went away once I "came to". The entire meditation lasted something like six or seven minutes before I had the sense that I didn't need to be there.

On the way back into town, I felt like I had to ask some questions of myself, so I used Joe Vitale's clearing and questioning method as noted in the book "The Attractor Factor". I found that, if things are to be how they are, I am supposed to pick up a message and I'll need to pick it up at the Bell Rock vortex. It came pretty strong, so I feel confident of it.

One thing I noted is that the energy at the crystal and mystical shops in town seem to radiate a higher energy - but it totally depends on the person minding the shop. I also seem to be attracted to go into each one, but I can't figure out why. Perhaps I'll get a better idea tomorrow.

Score one for intuition tonight!

I must put this place on my must see list, even if it's just a soul trip.

Can I offer a little advice?

I really feel you need to cut the caffiene - did write limit first but feel it needs to be out. Caffiene blocks you, intuitively, it prevents you from reaching a good meditative state because it's a stimulator. Drink herbal teas or decaf. Taking Nyquil isn't recommended either, it's a sedative, if you must take something go for something herbal. I head for chilli sauce when I want a clear nose - can you have that with coeliac disease? Less than quarter teaspoon of cayenne pepper in a little hot water (enough to swallow in one gulp) followed immediately by one or more glasses of cold water to take the burning away helps clear the nose too. Worked for my blocked Eustachian tubes last week.

Please remember this is just my point of view, I don't mean to offend you.

Default Sedona - Day 3

Apologies for not getting this out earlier - I totally forgot to update in my haste.

Day three was about getting to Bell Rock and experiencing the vortex there. Getting there was no problem - in fact, it's easy to see when you're driving down highway 179 out of Sedona. There are a couple of parking lots really close to the site, so I was able to get on the rock really quick.

It's almost impossible to get to the top of the rock, but I tried to get as close to the vortex as reasonable. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a good meditative state going as they are in the process of expanding the highway. I had to move a couple of times to the back side of the rock to get comfortable. Once I was there, I had an image of a brown falcon (like a kestrel) in my mind. I held it there for a few minutes, but I wasn't getting anything else.

Once I went back to the road side of the rock, a few minutes of meditation came up with a voice and a message that made me smile:

Experience joy.

I'm not sure if this was the entire message, as it seems incomplete. However, I feel better knowing that I was able to pick up on something while I was in Sedona.

I usually don't drink caffeine during the day. I usually go for decaf coffee or iced tea wherever possible. As for NyQuil, I was only taking it at night since I was having problems falling asleep due to coughing fits that were lasting over an hour when I lied down. I haven't fully explored alternative or homeopathic remedies to make a informed choice, especially while on vacation. It's something that I can do now for the next time it happens.

Default Sedona follow-up

I was fortunate to visit my uncle in Phoenix after my trip to Sedona.

While I was driving on I-17, I got the premonition that there would be three or four police officers on the route and that I shouldn't push it more than a few miles over the speed limit. I found four officers that day - one in the median, one going the other direction, and two sitting in a construction side (one on each side of the road). I found that to be really cool - maybe I have a good feel for cops.

My uncle offered a hypnotherapy session to me. I couldn't pass that up. What we did was a "spirit guide" session and it was amazing! I found that the falcon is a spirit guide, albeit a low-level one. I was also able to connect up to my "other voice" that's been going in my head for a while and get some insight about how it works. The "other voice" gave me some specific information on what I can do to improve my life. (How many spirits tell you to meditate three times a week for 20 minutes a day?)

Overall, this was a great trip for me. I hope that whatever guides me allows me to explore new places and new things.

Exclamation wow

that meditate thing at the end is crazy, i am starting to meditate for about 20 minutes a day, and its getting me good things. i started last night, and this morning, i started to get into a lucid dream, and then i think i had an out of body experience, maybe my first! its great, my advice, do what they tell you, unless its something bad, then maybe even do it. they know things, and if they wanted to help me out, i would do it. but seriously do the meditation thing, and what i do when i meditate, is i imagine im a fairy and im in a forest with another fairy, sometimes three other fairys, but the cool thing is, i dont control the fairys, its like ive made life inside me, or another personality in my head. its great.

I remmeber going to Sedona vortexes many years ago. The vegitation grew in one direction. I could see the energy, and my eyes turned green! No lie. They stayed that way for three days, and I was so peaceful.

I just went there again all these years later. Wow Sedona has built up.
I went to the airport vortex, and the vegitation no longer sways in one direction, and I could not see or feel the energy this time. Im very sensative to energy and it just was not there. Got some good photos though. [IMG][/IMG]
