Default when you knew something was going to happen

Did you just know if was going to happen, or did you make it happen by believing it would?

A friend and I got into a debate about this. I tend to think that our thoughts form our future. He tends to think that the future is what it is, and our seeing it in advance doesn't change anything.

The Chicken or Egg argument.

I am pondering this as well, so your post is timely. For example if I meditate, and visualize, I can usually see the future a few minutes ahead of time - sometimes an hour or so. But did I really see them, or did I create them through visualization? Thats the crux of the matter isn't it? The 100,000$ question.

It's nothing that I've actually been able to rely upon. I clearly recall, during a short spell of unemployment, that after a couple of interviews with a particular place I was 100% certain - there was absolutely no doubt in my mind whatsoever - that I was going to be offered the position.

Alas, someone else got it. I was crushed, not just because I had been passed over (though that was bad enough), but because the sense of sure-ness that I had was totally and completely wrong.

I think you're both right, actually. Our thoughts do form our future, but it's nothing mystical or remotely supernatural. I think about getting soup for lunch, and my actions follow those thoughts and I have soup for lunch.

Then again, maybe on the way to get my soup I bump into a friend and she says, "Let's go get a burger."

There is room in my world for happenstance and chaos, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Then I get to have a burger with a very attractive friend!

I think that a lot of times when I know something is going to happen, it's nothing supernatural, but rather tiny little subconscious clues in the physical world that enter my "brain trust center" because they are tiny and subconscious -- things my conscious mind is too ultra-rational to process accurately.

Like a job interview, for instance. The small facial movements the interviewer makes, tiny details in his vocal tone, or offhand remarks that you don't quite 'catch' consciously, all can add up to your 'knowledge' one way or the other.

Or you just know that your friend Brunhilda in Nebraska is going to call, so you reach for the phone and whoa! she's calling you! Well, it so happened there was a national news item that day about school violence at your alma mater, where you and Brunhilda were roommates ten years ago. You don't register the connection consciously, but you suddenly feel the urge to connect with her. She gets the same urge. Magic! Or maybe not.

And maybe there is a supernatural thing going on sometimes, too. I don't think that's too likely, though.

We've all got psychic abilities to some extent or not, whether we care to acknowledge and grow them or not. We're possibly all connected via a group consciousness, which makes telepathy almost trivial once you start practicing it.

Think of a friend, toss some emotion behind it, visualize talking to them, and BANG they call. Or you call them and they say "Wow, I was just thinking about you.". Practice makes perfect, from there you grow into sending messages and it functions like an organic cell phone between good friends, it is great.
