ok So I heard about Astral traveling some time ago and Lucid dreaming not so long ago so there is my story and few questions... I'm trying to do OBE for quite some time now (about a week I think) and I don't know if I am managing it or just thinking i am? Every time I go to sleep I try to concentrate and breathe and stay awake... few nights after I tryed OBEing (and failed) I looked at my clock and realised I was trying it for like 2 hours... When I meditate I evantualy start feeling vibration-like feeling... it's more as milions of needles are piercing trough my body... and I can get to the point where I feel like I don't even have a body... so I'm like ok, I guess this is the state where I should probably leave my body and I first try thinking of lifting my hand. But the more I think the more my Physical hand is rising up, slowly and slowly (I'm not even aware that it's rising untill I begin to pay atention to it) I don't know how to lift my astral arm, am I yet not ready for it? Are those vibrations something else, rather than astral body getting ready to leave? and I'm not sure if I should be aware of what's going on around me, it's like I could stand up any second, even tho I'm soppused to be in my astral body. is that normal? Is it normal that you can just sit up with your physical body or open your eyes just like that even if you are ready to leave your astral one? There are few more things, when I'm meditating, my arms start to hurt, like they are being streched or something.. Like I was lifting heavy object for a long time and now my arms hurt. When I try to OBE I'm usualy in bed right before sleep. and It's exhausting to try to OBE and I just can't leave body, I try and try and evantualy I have some uncomfortable feeling like I need to stand up or something (like my arms and legs are tickelin, and I need to slam something or change position of sleep to make it stop but than I would break the concentration) and I need to stop. Please tell me what am I doing wrong and how to release my astral body without moving my physical one, what's the feeling! this is my first post and I probably haven't covered everything for you to fully understand what I go trough but I would just like to know some tips on how to leave body (how it feels and how do you know that you aren't moving physical one) when time is right and if my time was right all theese times but I just couldn't leave it? thanks, and I hope I will get along here Oh, and 1 more thing! Can you, when you astral project, move physical object around? Like Telekinesis. I heard and read something that if you get enough energy, your astral body can move object in physical realm. For instance I can throw a glass from the table in a restoraunt while I'm actually in bed sleeping Last edited by Emilous; 10-25-2007 at 10:36 AM. |

I gotta tell ya, I was into this whole astral projection thing for quite some time - months and months, after studying the Robert Monroe books - but frankly never got anywhere. Some people are convinced that they can do it, but I can't help but wonder if it's imaginary. But I am willing to be wrong. It's a bit like my experience with those 3-d images that were popular for a while. I forget what they were called, but they were pictures that if you looked at them in a certain way - generally, with your focus actually behind the page or book - then you'd see a 3-d image. For a long time I thought everyone was just pulling my leg. All I'd see was the regular 2-d image that just looked like jumbled ink on a page. Then, finally, one day it just sort of "clicked" and I could do it. Maybe it's like that with what you're hoping to experience. I don't know, I need some sort of evidence because my experience just didn't work. |

When I was a child from age 5 (possibly earlier, I don't remember) until I was at least 8, I used to have dreams which involved me floating out of my body, viewing my mom + stepdad and my siblings in their beds from above and then flying out over the landscape and seeing many people going about their nightly business... I knew these dreams were different than other dreams I had, I loved having them, and I actively tried to have them. When it would be time to 'go back' I would rush back into my body-- even seeing the landscape rushing past me -- as if pulled back on a rubber band and wake up very refreshed, telling my mom about everything I had seen that night. In one half-waking instance, I fainted at school because of low blood sugar and I remember viewing myself from above, and seeing the concerned teachers clustered around me in a circle. In this instance as well, I 'snapped' back into my body and came to. I spent my teenage years and twenties with some very analytical, scientific/skeptic types and allowed them to influence me greatly, I fear. During this period I rejected any phemomenon that could not be explained by hard science. By this time I had tucked these 'city dreams' away and completely forgotten about them. One day a few years ago I happened to see an article or headline or something about astral projection and my City Dreams popped into my head. I realized that what the author was describing was exactly what had happened to me as a child... especially the part about being able to see every angle of a person from above...some sort of fourth dimension vision, she called it. I've never tried to do this as an adult. I wonder if I would be able to do something that was so easy and natural to me as a child now that my 'logical' mind considers it impossible. J |

Quick question - what's the point of the exercise? Why do you want to leave your physical body? You can send your consciousness to places removed in time and space (remote viewing) without leaving your body. It takes a lot less energy, just some practice. You can view your far-away loved ones, etc., and it can be a very useful skill. But what's the greater good here? We can easily get distracted on our spiritual path by the pursuit of psychic or paranormal abilities. But our ego can get really wrapped up in trying to accomplish something like astral projection. I think astral projection is a very real phenomenon, but I'm not sure it's something we need to pursue. And maybe the pursuit itself is what gets in the way of such an occurrence? Just my thoughts on the matter ... keep your eye on what you really want to accomplish. |

The first OOBE that I had was when I was 6 and in the first grade. I use to just call it "Floating" until I read about OOBEs in my teens. This is something I did regularly until I started getting low scores...expecially on spelling tests, around the 3rd grade. I started trying to consciously do them in my mid twentys... and had some varied results. I invested in the "Wave" hemisync cd's that the Monroe Institute puts out, and use them off and on since having completed the program. I use OOBE to meet up with guides, my soul group and people who have passed over... (expecially when I can not make the funeral.) I would suggest the cd's if you can get them. They do help... and they are wonderful just for meditation too. Good luck! |
