Strange number coincidences.

Maybe you just notice this number because you want to ascribe some mystical important meaning to it. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy - you notice it and you attribute meaning to it. Therefore, you notice it more and as you notice it more you think it is important ad infinitum. You probably see loads of numbers everyday subsconsiously but choose to focus on some and give them meaning. Mine is 237 in one variation or another.

I'm not saying this necessarily fully explains every incidence of this phenomenon, but I think part of it is just that when you become aware of something (such as a number) you tend to notice it more.

It's a bit like when you open a newspaper and see a word you've never seen before, or read about something you remember from long ago but haven't thought about in many years, and then later that same day or week, you see that same word or whatever it was again. Sometimes you see it several times in a short period.

It may be that the word or whatever it is was there to be noticed all along, but you just never noticed it before and now that it has come into your consciousness due to the fact you happened to have it brought to your attention once, you become much more aware of it.

I guess this leads into an interesting concept that I've often considered, which is that there may well be, in fact almost certainly is, many things going on around us all day every day which no human is even aware of, because we have simply never been taught that it exists. But that's a topic for another thread.

Back onto number coincidences (of a different sort though) I had a job once which amongst other things sometimes involved manning a telephone switchboard for a department store.

There were about 200 phone extensions within the store, each with a 3 digit number, and when someone rang through to the switchboard I was monitoring, their extension number would come up on a screen so that I knew where they were calling from within the store.

There were 3 different occasions when I was just sitting at the desk doing paperwork and suddenly a 3 digit number popped into my head for no apparent reason I could think of. Several seconds later on each of these 3 occasions, I received a call from that extension.

It wasn't that I regularly received calls from that extension (or no more so than any of the other 200 extensions) and I had no reason to expect a call from those extensions, so I really can't work out any logical reason that the number came into my head.

There was no great significance to it all in the end, but it certainly seemed very coincidental.

repeated numbers are nothing more than your sub-conscious trying to communicate with you...since most of us ignore our dreams, it looks for other methods of communication, and one of those methods is patterns...and what better way of showing a pattern than something that you look at everyday(numbers) in most cases time. 11:11, 1:11, 2:22, 3:33, and even the 1:22, 2:44, or even the 12:34, 2:34, 3:45 etc... Your sub-consious is directly related to the Subjective realm or the nounmenal plane...it is the realm that can't be seen with our five senses, but it exist(This is what meditation is for, experiencing this realm) We exist on the Objective realm or Phenomenal plane. Where Subjective realm is to Life and being the Objective realm is to Living and doing. A lot of us are starting to experience this especially when we are on the verge to entering a new age. this is what the mayans talk about, but not just the mayan, but the olmec's, aztecs, western Dogon culture, Moores, Ancient egyptians(called Kemet) Nubians, and many others...these same cultures also have calenders ending on 2012(NOT SAYING ITS THE END, BUT THE BEGINNING OF A NEW AGE) your sub-conscious is talking to you telling you to......... WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!
