Default Freaky kinda...

In August I moved into one of my Grandmother's rent houses. It's a 2 story, 5 bedroom house that was built in the 20's.

The story is that there was an almost identical house here before but that it burnt down. In the mid 90's on New Years day, a boy accidentially shot himself in the head upstairs and died...

One night, right before bed, I was walking up to a window that looks out into the enclosed porch. I was going over to adjust the curtains, something I have to do everyday becasue they won't stay closed. For some reason that porch just feels eerie to leave the curtain cracked. It sounds silly, but you feel like something is watching you...

Anyway, right before I reclosed the curtain, I opened it more to have a look, right as I pulled the curtains back and my head leaned almost against the glass, the light above the window flicked on. I immediately called out to Melissa,(my roomate) thinking she had walked out into the porch from the other end for some reason and turned the lights on. When I called her name, she was in the living room. I said, “Did you go out and turn on the porch lights?” She said, “No, I just locked the front door, I thought about putting that jug out there though.” I said, “Come see this light that just turned on, I thought it was broke.”

She came over and the light continued to glow and flicker. It wasn’t as bright as a new bulb but it definitely was enough to light up the porch. An orange red glow was at one end of the tube also. We then decided to go out and see if maybe the switch was left in the on position and since it hadn’t worked maybe this was just some random electric charge running through it. Both of the light switches were off. We flicked them off and on and there was no change in that one light.

Even though this was real strange, we didnt get real freaked out because I have this weird thing with lights that has gone on my whole life. When I walk under or near lights they randomly blow or turn off or on...My friend, Melissa has witnessed this happen to me many times over the years, mostly at work, where even the big industrial flourescent lights do that when I walk or drive by on the glf cart...So, we were not as amazed as we might have been if I didnt have the light bulb electrical problem.

We got distracted when we came out of the porch looking at these really huge spiders outside with our flashlights and kinda forgot about the light...When we came back inside I remembered.

Right as I walked into the room and stepped towards the window I said, “I wonder if that light is still on.” As soon as those words rolled off my tongue, the light just switched off. I looked back at Melissa to see if she had seen that and she was just standing still behind me, eyes wide. Then I walked over to lie down on the bed and Melissa was standing at the doorway. I jokingly said, “It sucks that I gotta lay my head and sleep right here by the Haunted window!” Melissa started to laugh and say something and right as she started to speak a distinct, kind of muffled high-pitched laugh, yell, or cry of some sort was heard. She stopped dead and looked at me, “Lacey, did you hear that!? It sounded like a kid, maybe playing or something.” I said, “Well, all of my boys are right here asleep, we know it wasn’t them.

The thing is, we never really got a creepy feeling with all this until the muffled voice noise was heard. We just were thinking about it logically. The light is old, wiring is old. Don’t fluorescent bulbs have gas and stuff in it that could have given a little random charge? Also, I have a history of doing weird things to light bulbs. Almost all of my bulbs are a higher watt and energy efficient because I have always blown them out.

I also periodically think I see like back figures almost human shaped shadows peeking around doorways.

About 10:30 pm one night, I had to keep going outside to see what the dogs were barking at. I kept looking around the yard. I figure it could be a cat or something. I went back to doing things in the kitchen. Something shined in my eye. It was like a quick, tiny, bright silver flash, only in my left eye. I tried re-doing my movements to see what would have done that, like a reflection or something. I moved my watch around in different lights, couldn’t figure it out. No big deal, just weird.
I was trying to make my self go to sleep for about half an hour. The baby woke up about 11:45 and I sat with him on the couch to help him drink his bottle. He coughed and right as I looked down at him, I saw a dark whoosh come into the doorway out of my peripheral vision. It startled me bad and I jumped when I saw it. I started looking all around and saw nothing else. But, I started to feel creepy and way more scared than I ever really have so far, and like the skin on the back of my head was crawling. I started to feel so tired and drained. I really felt tired to deal with anything like that so I climbed into bed and said out loud, “Please not tonight, I’m too tired now for this. Please just leave me alone. Not tonight, it’s getting old” And I went to sleep. It felt pretty stupid to talk out loud, as if I’m acknowledging something else going on. It also feels pretty dumb to talk about this stuff later anyway. It’s like the next day, it doesn’t seem as real or significant enough to try and tell someone else.
But about 1 am Melissa came home from work. I was dozing by then and had to get up and unlock the door for her. I didn’t talk, I just went back and passed out until 4:45, when I get up for work.
The next morning, after Melissa got up, she called me at work. She said that the night before she had been sitting on the porch talking on the phone for a while before she had knocked. She said that she started feeling real creepy and thinking she was seeing something peeking out from behind my car but she figured it was just her cuz she was sleepy. She said when she came in at first she thought it looked lightly smoky in the house, but she didn’t smell anything, and as she turned lights on, she didn’t see smoke. But, she said she got a creepy feeling even worse when she came in. Then once she was inside she said she went to use the house phone (our cells get no signal inside) and it was like something was hanging on the phone. She thought it was a spider and a web because it was white-ish and kind of blurred as she picked it up, so she threw the phone down on the couch. Then she turned a bigger light on and picked it up and saw there was nothing but as she went to use the phone she still thought it looked as if there was something was on the phone. She finally decided that she must be way more tired than she felt and her eyes were playing tricks on her.
Then she said she had tried to wake me a few times because she had felt so weird, creepy and scared, but I wouldn’t wake Bat all (I was passed out from being up so long with “it” before her). She also said that even though it was morning, she still felt pretty scared and really felt as if someone was in the house with her. She said she could go out on the porch and be fine, but as soon as she walked back into the house, she felt really scared, she was almost convinced that there was a real person in there. She had thought that she even saw a shadow of someone in the living room. So she had gotten out the little gun and was sitting outside, talking to me on the phone telling me all about it. She said she immediately felt fine outside right then, but could barely stand to go back in.
I could tell that she was more scared than usual, and I know her well enough to know she was genuinely scared. So, I left work early to go home and check it out and at least give her company so she could go back inside. I had a good idea that there was no real person there but I didn’t tell her that, I didn’t want to discredit any feelings she may be having. You never know, their may very
I just wanted to go home so she wouldn’t be scared. I don’t want her to want to move away. For some reason, knowing that another adult lives with me, even though we have opposite schedules, makes living there bearable.

Think this is weird?
