Conflicting views with higher mind

I have a different view than my higher mind on what to do with a particular problem, I am considering leaving a site that I was part of for years. Although, the site in question no longer really can help me with anything anymore (I can actually feel it and my intuition is telling me it can no longer help me) but everytime I think of it, I hear "don't burn bridges". If this site can no longer help me, then why is my higher mind telling me this? Any ideas? I just can't seem to see why I should be part of that site anymore if it can't help me.

Maybe because you can help someone on there.

Or maybe you are confusing the voice with your ego.

It could be that there is someone on there that I could help but the voice of the ego sounds just as likely. It could actually be a fear response instead of something higher, I'll just try asking through writing on word (like I always do) that I have yet to do with that, maybe it is the ego after all and I can finally get some peace on this topic.:D

How does one go about defining the difference?

Someone said somewhere (probably Erin but I can't remember or cite the reference) that ego often speaks from a viewpoint of fear. Things like -

"What are you thinking?"
"You could never do that."
"That's a good way to make a fool of yourself."

and so on.

One reference I can cite is this - which is helpful in recognizing and establishing contact with your HS - Erin Pavlina - Psychic Medium, Spirituality, and Personal Development » Blog Archive » How to Meet your Higher Self

Meditation is the only way I know to discern the difference. Everybody's ego has its own justifications but usually, almost always they are made in fear of some percieved threat. Thoughts about growth of our self and spirit are distinct from the ego even when we don't percieve that to be the case in that they all come from the higher mind. The ego is unfortunately a coward. But a lovable one.

I think Erin addresses it in this post - Erin Pavlina - Pesky Logic

Well, there's "leaving" and there's "burning bridges." Those are two different things, aren't they? One can leave with loving intention or one can leave in disappointment and anger, for example ... the voice of our Higher Self can be very literal!

Just food for thought ...

CDN2Wheeler - it takes practice! But your intuition and Higher Self and the voice of your ego/lower self are distinctly different. Listen carefully, follow guidance, witness the results, and you'll learn to tell the difference.

I agree with Andrea. Leaving a site (so to speak) isn't the same as puposely doing something to harm others. You can't control how others react, but you do control your thoughts, feelings and intentions.

Erin also makes a good point. Your presence may be helping others. If there's a way to sign up to receive email or notification that someone on the site would like to contact you, that could be useful. You'll naturally evolve to spend less time on some pursuit of you outgrow it. Stop listening to your fear of what may happen. Do what feels right.

Thanks for the nice replies, I don't think I want to be a part of that site anyways, so it would be best just to leave it (just causes feelings of hate and malice, both from me and the people on it).

Some people, on forums, seem to need to make a huge drama out of their comings and goings. Like there has to be this big fat ANNOUNCEMENT so everyone can speculate and dramatize and discuss and of course maybe a few beg you to change your mind. Big hoohaaa.

Just stop going. Then, in a few weeks/months/years when you change your mind and want to pop in, you don't have to go all the way back through the DRAMA of rejoining and explaining and apologizing.

Just fade away. If you have truly better things to do, you wouldn't even be troubled by it enough to ask.
